Chapter 122: The Sea King
"Don't make me beat up a whiny little girl like you myself," Jiang Muye said, glancing sideways at Jiang Xueli.
"Hmph hmph, Brother, you're bullying me." Jiang Xueli turned away in a huff, crossing her arms over her chest, and because she was sulking, her impressive little bunnies bounced with each breath.
"I actually want to play too." Leng Ruoli's clear, beautiful eyes were fixed on Jiang Muye.
Jiang Muye nearly melted on the spot and immediately nodded. "Alright, let's go play."
Jiang Xueli couldn't believe it.
As she watched Jiang Muye follow Leng Ruoli off to scoop goldfish, her face twisted with grievance and she grew even more puffed up with anger. "How come when Ruoli says one word he plays, but when I make a fuss it's useless! Favoritism, this is way too much favoritism!"
Little White Dove grinned broadly. "That's right. Come on, I've claimed this whole fish pond for myself."
"Get out of here, you domineering mutt. You want to be a CEO? Take a good look at yourself. I wouldn't stoop to raising fish—I'm going to be the Sea King who conquers the entire ocean!" Old He stretched out his hand confidently and clenched it tight.
"Shamate," Kai said airily from the side, and even Mi Lu started teasing Old He and Little White Dove with a smile. "I don't see any potential for being a CEO or a Sea King in either of you, but you're sure enough of a pair of idiots."
Old He and Little White Dove exchanged glances, both very much wanting to cry.
Scooping goldfish, as the name implies, meant using a little net to scoop up goldfish. The technical difficulty lay in the fact that the little goldfish always tried to slip away.
You had to scoop twenty little goldfish within five minutes to clear the challenge and win a prize.
Leng Ruoli held the little net in her slender hand, scanning the movements of the goldfish.
Jiang Muye stood beside her as her strategist. "This requires quick eyes and a quick hand, and decisive action."
"Okay," Leng Ruoli said with a smile.
"Let me demonstrate for you. Don't worry, I'll help you clear this. I'll definitely catch a lot, and I'll share some with you." Jiang Muye grinned, doting on her.
Leng Ruoli's eyes were very gentle as she looked on in anticipation.
At that moment, it wasn't just Leng Ruoli watching—even Mi Lu and Jiang Xueli had gathered around.
Under the gaze of so many eyes, Jiang Muye puffed out his chest and gave the net a mighty swoop.
Missed.
The fish darted away.
Jiang Muye suddenly felt a bit awkward.
Beside him came Little White Dove's mocking voice. "Hahaha, you're worse than a little kid!"
"Just a slip-up," Jiang Muye said, trying to smooth things over, and scooped again.
Another miss. The little goldfish nimbly slipped out from under the net.
Jiang Muye: What the hell?
What should have been an easy feat for him was now ridiculously difficult.
Jiang Muye had met his Waterloo!
Little White Dove and Old He laughed loudly from the side. "Muzi, what's gotten into you today?"
"It's the tool's fault." Jiang Xueli put her hands on her hips and started fighting back on Jiang Muye's behalf.
Mi Lu crossed her arms too, thoroughly displeased. "Exactly. What's there to laugh at? If you've got the ability, you go up and try."
"You can't blame the tools for poor skill. Here, let me show you how it's done—what it means to be a Sea King!" Old He was full of swagger. He rolled up his sleeves and gave the net a swoop.
The fish darted away again.
Old He missed. "Nani?"
"See? I told you it's difficult," Jiang Xueli said with a huff.
Old He stared at the net. "This tool really is no good. Can you even catch anything with this? What a bunch of shady merchants."
"Oh really? Then why is our Ruoli so amazing! A hundred percent hit rate!" Mi Lu's voice rang out.
Everyone looked and saw that Leng Ruoli's basin already had a bunch of little goldfish in it.
Leng Ruoli placed the little net in the water.
Clang—
Whoosh—
Fast, accurate, ruthless!
Any goldfish she set her eyes on ended up in her net.
And Leng Ruoli's face was calm and unruffled, as if she hadn't been affected at all.
Her fierce moves were completely at odds with her stunning face and aloof aura.
Old He swallowed a mouthful of saliva, filled with admiration. "She's the real Sea Queen!"
"Who could say otherwise? I'm in awe," Little White Dove said, shaking his head in astonishment. Even with the tools tampered with, Leng Ruoli could still scoop up fish so brilliantly.
And the way she did it was comparable to a cold-blooded female assassin!
Yet after finishing her fishing, Leng Ruoli turned to Jiang Muye with a radiant smile. "Jiang Muye, I've caught your share too. Our mission's complete~"
Jiang Muye was now thoroughly impressed.
Sure enough, the last person you wanted to offend was a woman. Look at this beautiful, quiet girl—yet at the critical moment she could be so fierce, her ability outstanding.
Jiang Muye had originally prepared some comforting words for when Leng Ruoli failed to catch any fish, but now he realized there was no need at all.
Leng Ruoli's ability was far too outstanding—she'd even crushed him!
Jiang Xueli and Mi Lu were full of admiration. "Ruoli, help us too~"
Leng Ruoli gave a faint smile, made an OK gesture without the slightest hesitation, and said, "No problem."
So she alone started diligently scooping fish again.
"I'll help you!" Faced with such a workload, Jiang Muye was a man after all—how could he just stand by? He quickly moved over to help Leng Ruoli.
Of course, Jiang Muye had no experience, and Leng Ruoli patiently guided him. Slowly, Jiang Muye got the hang of it, and his fishing became quite swift.
Mi Lu and Jiang Xueli felt embarrassed to leave all the work to Leng Ruoli, so they joined the fishing team too, and soon it was done.
Just as the task was completed and Jiang Muye was about to stand up, Little White Dove ambushed him with a splash of water.
"Hahaha—" Little White Dove laughed heartily.
"Screw you~ Little White Dove, you're asking for it!" Jiang Muye started splashing water back at him.
Of course, Jiang Muye also saw several arcs of water.
He discovered that besides Leng Ruoli, Mi Lu and Jiang Xueli were also splashing water at Little White Dove.
Little White Dove had nowhere to run, surrounded and splashed by three girls.
His hair was now dripping wet, his clothes soaked through, and water kept splashing onto him. Laughing and shouting, he hugged his head and begged for mercy. "I was wrong, I was wrong!"
After watching Little White Dove get thoroughly trounced by the girls, Kai shook his head sympathetically. "You just had to mess with Muzi, didn't you? You thought Muzi was fighting alone, but actually he's got three Goddesses guarding him, ok?"
Old He immediately felt a sense of schadenfreude. "Who could say otherwise? Look how miserable this dumb dog is now."
Little White Dove was drenched from head to toe, on the verge of whining. Who could he pour out his bitter feelings to? Finally, he pointed at Jiang Muye and accused, "You really need to keep these three girls in check. Look what they've done to me—I'm so pitiful!"
"You deserved it. Who told you to mess with me?" Jiang Muye's lips curved upward.
This feeling of having someone stand up for you was really nice.
It counted as venting some of Jiang Muye's frustration.
Leng Ruoli saw that Jiang Muye's hair was slightly wet, with water droplets still trickling down from his wolf cut onto his nice-looking neck, and the sight made her face flush and her heart race.
"You—you—ugh, I want to find my girlfriend!" Little White Dove regretted not bringing his girlfriend along. Otherwise someone would be avenging him right now.
