Chapter 148: Her Secret

# 99 Proposals Rejected, the Aloof Campus Belle Forcefully Seduces Me — Jiang Muye

**Boss Cutie**

Before he could even grasp the situation, Father Leng's car had already driven off.

Jiang Muye's doubts would go unanswered.

Just as he was about to step into the elevator, he noticed someone coming in holding an umbrella, grumbling.

"What the hell is with this weather, the thunder is so bad! Scared me to death!"

Father Leng's words suddenly surfaced in Jiang Muye's mind. He grabbed the man by the shoulder and asked, "It's thundering outside?"

"Yeah." The man looked utterly baffled.

Jiang Muye's heart gave a violent lurch.

Father Leng had said that on a day of thunder, he absolutely had to be by her side.

But right now, Leng Ruoli was all alone in the western restaurant upstairs!

Damn it!

The instant the elevator doors opened, Jiang Muye shot out.

By the time he reached the western restaurant, aside from the unfamiliar faces around, the seat that had been reserved was empty.

But Leng Ruoli's phone was still on the table.

She wouldn't have just up and left before he even showed up, would she?

Had she gone to the restroom?

Jiang Muye walked over. Just as he was about to pick up Leng Ruoli's phone, he sensed movement coming from beneath the tablecloth-draped table.

Faint moans drifted out.

Each one gripped Jiang Muye's heart.

His breathing grew ragged. Slowly, he bent down, his fingers gently lifting the tablecloth—and there he saw the figure huddled beneath the table.

She was curled up so thin and frail, arms wrapped around her legs, trapping herself in an incredibly cramped space.

Her hair was a mess, and her pale little face had not a trace of color.

What struck Jiang Muye the most was that her eyes were brimming with tears, trembling with fear and shuddering, her arms tightening inch by inch.

Jiang Muye's heart ached terribly. It was the first time he'd seen her so fragile.

Her pallid appearance gave her the brittle, shatterable feel of glass.

He felt an unbearable sensation of his blood freezing throughout his body, and in that instant tears nearly burst from his eyes.

Jiang Muye's nose suddenly stung. Without a shred of hesitation, he reached his hand out toward Leng Ruoli and said softly, "Let's not hide here, okay? Come out, alright?"

His voice was very gentle, carrying the power to soothe the heart.

But Leng Ruoli's eyes were rimmed red, biting her lower lip. She was hesitating, her gaze fixed on Jiang Muye's outstretched hand.

"Come." Jiang Muye encouraged. As he leaned closer, a rumble of thunder continued to roll outside, and this time it sent Leng Ruoli into a fright, making her duck sharply back under the table.

Her body curled up even tighter, her emotions running so high that tears ran unchecked across her face—fear and panic both.

Jiang Muye's heart ached even more.

He saw the lightning flashing in the sky outside, letting the thunder rumble on and the wild wind rage.

Finally he struggled to focus his mind, and reached out to begin controlling it.

Jiang Muye, after all, had the power to control the weather—a veritable "Weather's Child."

Whatever rain fell, whatever thunder roared—

All of it, gone!

Under Jiang Muye's control, the thunder that had been crashing outside instantly died away, the dark clouds withdrew, the rain ceased, the moon peeked out, and in a flash it began to return to a perfectly calm state.

Not a trace of the terrifying thunder and lightning from moments ago remained.

Leng Ruoli, who had been covering her ears and trembling, clearly felt much better now.

Her eyelashes quivered, and the taut lines of her skin slowly relaxed. She looked around suspiciously.

But the anxiety hadn't faded from her face; she was still under the table.

Seeing this, Jiang Muye without hesitation sat down beneath the table too.

That scene made Leng Ruoli's eyes go wide with disbelief.

But Jiang Muye was completely at ease. Meeting Leng Ruoli's astonished gaze, he gently stroked her hair and said in a soft tone, "I said I'd stay with you, so I can't go back on my word."

Leng Ruoli's eyes glistened with tears, red eyes, red nose—she looked utterly pitiful.

Jiang Muye pulled her to lie on his lap and blamed himself, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you here alone."

If he had been by her side the first moment the thunder struck, would she still be this helpless and uneasy now?

Leng Ruoli's eyes shimmered with tears. She tugged faintly at the corner of her lips and whimpered, "No, it's my own problem. Are you curious about what happened to me?"

"If you want to tell me, you'll tell me."

Jiang Muye lowered his head and kissed Leng Ruoli's hair, overflowing with tenderness. "If you don't want to, I won't force you."

Leng Ruoli's breath caught. Fine cold sweat began to seep from her whole body. "Six years ago, I… I…"

Jiang Muye noticed that as Leng Ruoli recalled the past, she began to breathe raggedly.

That scene made Jiang Muye's heart ache especially. He immediately began to calm Leng Ruoli's emotions.

He gently soothed her. "It's okay. I don't want to hear it, so don't say it. What I care about is your future anyway. I don't mind what happened in your past."

For Leng Ruoli to be this distressed—

Something terrible must have happened.

Otherwise she wouldn't be this agitated and miserable.

How could Jiang Muye let her keep tearing open her wounds just to satisfy his own curiosity?

Leng Ruoli's eyes were already shot through with red blood vessels, but she was no longer smiling that bitter smile from before—instead it was a fulfilled smile after being comforted.

Smiling faintly through her tears, she leaned her face in and kissed Jiang Muye's lips. "Meeting you is my greatest fortune."

"Same here."

If not for Leng Ruoli, Jiang Muye might still be nursing his wounds from past grief.

But she had appeared, and she had healed all of Jiang Muye's pain. She had pulled him out of the abyss.

If she was in the abyss, then he would be the one to pull her out.

After pulling Leng Ruoli out from under the table, Jiang Muye walked her back to the hospital room.

The two lay down together, and Leng Ruoli nestled into Jiang Muye's arms, very quiet, her collagen-filled face pressed against the crook of his neck.

Jiang Muye comfortably shifted toward her.

He ruffled Leng Ruoli's hair, kissed her forehead, and coaxed, "Be good. Go to sleep early, don't think about anything."

"Okay." Leng Ruoli's hands clung firmly to Jiang Muye's waist.

Jiang Muye could feel how much she depended on him.

His tenderness toward her only deepened.

He would definitely protect her well, and would absolutely never let her suffer the slightest grievance again.

Although Jiang Muye didn't know what had actually happened to Leng Ruoli in the past, now that she had him by her side, it was impossible for those shadows to return.

The pain of the first half of her life—let him spend the second half healing it.
