Chapter 29: Brother Jiang Is the Darling of the Banquet
After having his marriage proposal rejected 99 times, the Aloof Campus Belle Threw Herself at Me, Jiang Muye
Boss Cutie
Jiang Muye said to his aunt, “Aunt, this is too much. You don’t need to.”
His aunt immediately glared at him in irritation. “Silly child, why are you being so polite with your aunt? As my successor, you need to know how to spend money, not just how to make it. If you don’t know how to spend it, what’s the point of making it! If you don’t listen to your aunt, I’m going to get angry with you.”
Seeing that his aunt was squaring off with him, Jiang Muye had no choice but to agree. “Alright.”
His aunt nodded in satisfaction, then picked up several outfits and said to him, “Come on, go try these on and let your aunt see if they fit. Tomorrow we’re attending a very important banquet.”
Jiang Muye nodded and went to change.
Sure enough, clothes make the man. These brand-name outfits looked completely different once he put them on.
Jiang Muye felt he had gained a bit more dash and flair, and just looking at him, he seemed more refined. After seeing him in them, his aunt praised him endlessly, then settled on one outfit for him to wear to the banquet the next day.
Jiang Muye quite liked it too, so he agreed.
The next day, as dusk settled in.
His aunt brought Jiang Muye to a banquet at a five-star hotel.
Before they set out, she had said she was preparing a mysterious surprise for him.
Jiang Muye was puzzled. A mysterious surprise? What’s that!
Fortunately, he’d find out in a little while. Jiang Muye was actually looking forward to it.
The banquet was a swirl of clinking glasses, and quite a few members of high society had gathered, including many prominent officials and nobles, as well as plenty of big stars.
This was a world Jiang Muye, as a student, could never have reached before. All at once, he had leapt across class lines.
The system replied: 【Ding—Banquet check-in successful. Reward: one million RMB.】
When his aunt led Jiang Muye in with a beaming smile, quite a few eyes fell on the fair-skinned, handsome Jiang Muye.
However, apart from being polite to Jiang Muye’s aunt, they treated Jiang Muye with indifference.
After all, they all figured that the boy she’d brought was just a pretty boy, probably being kept. They’d seen that sort of thing all too often in this circle.
Some even gave Jiang Muye a contemptuous smirk.
Jiang Muye curved the corner of his mouth coldly, utterly disdainful.
He just stood there, lightly sipping his wine, with little interest in these people.
His aunt, however, sensed the outsiders’ prejudiced looks and felt a bit displeased.
Too much. How dare they slight her nephew? That was a slap in her face.
So his aunt brought Jiang Muye over to a few bosses and introduced him with a smile, “Boss Qi, Boss Jiang, this is my nephew, Jiang Muye, and also my heir. He’s the future successor of Chen Group.”
Shock.
This young man wasn’t some kept pretty boy; he had serious backing.
He was actually the future successor of Chen Group?
God, Chen Group was a famously massive conglomerate.
As the successor, Jiang Muye not only had a brilliant future ahead of him, but was absolutely worth hundreds of millions!
The bosses who had just been disinclined to even glance at Jiang Muye instantly became warm and enthusiastic once they learned his identity.
“So you’re Madam Chen’s heir. Truly a young man of outstanding appearance!”
“So handsome. He’d be a good match for my daughter—if only I knew whether he could take a liking to my little girl.”
“I have two daughters. I could introduce you to them.”
Jiang Muye had no interest at all.
He just let them bicker as they pleased.
Now more and more people were coming over to heap on the flattery. So this is the world of the rich? They flip their faces faster than they turn a page. Just a moment ago they were all cold, and now they’re trying to curry favor.
Jiang Muye coolly said to his aunt, “I’m going to grab something to eat over there.”
His aunt nodded and let him go.
The others didn’t dare say much. Even if Jiang Muye’s attitude was cold, who would dare find fault?
After all, he was the future successor of Chen Group. No one present could afford to offend him.
Jiang Muye glanced over the buffet area. The food was all quite exquisite, done up in a style that screamed unaffordable.
He picked some food onto his plate when, with a sudden clatter, something seemed to spill onto his shirt, soaking it through in an instant.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to!” The female server’s eyes were red-rimmed. She was clearly wracked with guilt; she had been entirely unprepared for bumping into Jiang Muye when she reached for the wine glass. “How about I pay you back?”
“It’s fine,” Jiang Muye said, and didn’t pursue it further.
The red wine stain wasn’t large and could be washed out. Besides, it was clear the other party hadn’t done it on purpose.
“Thank you.” The female server nodded gratefully.
Jiang Muye was about to deal with the red wine stain on his shirt. He picked up a wet towel and dabbed at it, but the stain only grew deeper.
“That won’t work. I have a way.” While Jiang Muye was struggling with the stain, a familiar female voice sounded.
Jiang Muye raised his head in astonishment. “It’s you?”
At the sink in the restroom.
Jiang Muye’s body leaned against the marble sink, his black suit already casually taken off to the side.
His slender fingers rested on the edge of the sink, and a slender, alluring figure was bent before him, busily working.
“Phew—”
Jiang Muye drew a sharp breath.
The other’s ice-cold hand and the warm towel formed a stark contrast of ice and fire.
It quickly made Jiang Muye’s body tremble sensitively.
As he trembled, the girl in front of him blushed and asked, “Did I hurt you?”
Her clear, innocent eyes were pure as a fawn’s. He watched her bite her bright red lip, worrying over him.
Jiang Muye involuntarily smiled. “It’s fine. It’s just the shirt being wet and a bit cold.”
“It’ll be done soon.” Leng Ruoli gave a graceful smile. “White wine mixed with salt is very effective at removing stains.”
She lowered her head and continued wiping the stain on his shirt with the hot towel.
“I had no idea,” Jiang Muye said with a rueful laugh.
“I’m a girl. I’ll have to take care of my husband someday, so I have to know a thing or two,” Leng Ruoli said offhandedly, then suddenly sensed the young man’s scorching gaze.
She suddenly felt ashamed of her careless words and sped up. “There, done.”
Jiang Muye nodded. “Thanks.”
He looked down at his shirt. The stain was gone.
Jiang Muye went to use the dryer, and the shirt dried quickly. You wouldn’t be able to tell at all that red wine had been spilled on it.
“I’m pretty lucky today, running into you.” Jiang Muye smirked.
“I happened to get an invitation, so I came.” Leng Ruoli’s lashes lowered with a touch of elegance.
Actually, there was one thing she hadn’t said.
She had only flown over after confirming his name was on the list.
Otherwise, she had no interest whatsoever in this kind of banquet.
“That is quite a coincidence.” Jiang Muye felt a bit embarrassed.
After all, he had just received Leng Ruoli’s love letter. He didn’t have much experience with romance, so facing such a sincere girl left him somewhat at a loss.
“Have you… found a female companion yet?” Leng Ruoli’s white teeth lightly bit her cherry lips as she asked carefully.
“Female companion?”
