Chapter 290: I've Been Had
Jiang Muye chuckled and leaned in close to Leng Ruoli's ear, saying secretly, "That's also because you feel so good to touch."
Leng Ruoli's face began to burn, and she swatted Jiang Muye's hand.
Jiang Muye's smile only deepened.
After eating and drinking their fill, Jiang Muye led Leng Ruoli out of the cafeteria.
By the time they reached the bottom of the building, Jiang Muye noticed that a strong wind had already picked up outside, and it had started to rain heavily.
This torrential downpour had come completely out of nowhere.
As it happened, neither of them had brought an umbrella.
Leng Ruoli grumbled in frustration, "The forecast today didn't say it would rain, so how did it suddenly get this heavy. What should we do, we didn't bring an umbrella, how are we going to get back."
Worried that the two of them would end up getting soaked, she started to type out a message. "I'll have someone bring us an umbrella."
But Jiang Muye stopped her from sending the message, saying, "No need to go to all that trouble. The rain's about to stop."
Hearing Jiang Muye's words, Leng Ruoli was full of doubt. "About to stop? I don't see it. The rain's coming down so hard, there's no way it'll stop anytime soon."
Jiang Muye, however, flashed a meaningful smile.
Under normal circumstances, the rain definitely wouldn't stop anytime soon.
But who was he?
A man with the System, and the Weather's Child skill.
He could control the weather however he wanted.
While Leng Ruoli wasn't paying attention, Jiang Muye had already slightly raised his hand and begun manipulating things with his mind.
"It stopped raining! No need to take shelter!" The students who had been running toward the hallway just moments ago now cried out in shock.
Leng Ruoli was astonished to find that the heavy rain which had been falling so nicely just a moment ago had now vanished without a trace.
The sky, which had been covered in dark clouds, had now cleared up, and sunlight was slowly sprinkling down.
Leng Ruoli said to Jiang Muye in surprise and excitement, "Look~ it really stopped raining, how did you guess so accurately!"
Jiang Muye smiled without a word.
It wasn't a matter of guessing accurately at all—it was clearly that he had a special ability that let him control the weather however he wanted.
But Jiang Muye definitely wouldn't tell Leng Ruoli.
After all, having a System was a bizarre thing. If he said it out loud, people would easily take him for a lunatic, and if he got treated like some kind of freak and dragged off for research, that would be way too unfair.
"Alright, maybe even the heavens listen to me and wanted to clear up. Since it's not raining, that's great, let's go." Jiang Muye reached his hand out toward Leng Ruoli, signaling for her to take it.
Leng Ruoli, beaming, took Jiang Muye's hand and affectionately linked her arm through his.
Just as they were about to start walking, Leng Ruoli reminded Jiang Muye, "Watch out for those puddles, don't get splashed with dirty water."
"Got it, I'm not a little kid~" Jiang Muye smiled and tapped Leng Ruoli's forehead.
Leng Ruoli burst out laughing. "Even if you're not a little kid, I'll still worry about you." The words had barely left her mouth when—splash—Leng Ruoli, not paying attention, stepped right into a puddle.
Leng Ruoli gave Jiang Muye a pitiful look with her little eyes. "I got caught."
That expression was like a little pufferfish that had done something wrong—so innocent and cute it was almost too much.
Seeing it, Jiang Muye completely melted.
She was just too cute.
Jiang Muye couldn't bear to let go of Leng Ruoli, so he pinched her soft, tender little cheek and said, "Look at you, giving me grief, when you're the careless one."
"I just didn't notice…" Leng Ruoli muttered, a little aggrieved.
"Alright, I know." Jiang Muye didn't blame Leng Ruoli much, and instead stepped in front of her and bent his knees slightly, saying to her, "Get on, I'll carry you."
Seeing Jiang Muye's gesture, Leng Ruoli grew shy. "No need, it's only a few hundred meters back."
"It's dirty here, and your shoes are white, they don't hold up against dirt, and what if they get soaked again. I'll carry you, so you don't step in another puddle like you just did." Jiang Muye said to Leng Ruoli with a smile.
"No, I'll just walk myself." Leng Ruoli stepped around Jiang Muye, about to head forward.
Jiang Muye rushed forward and grabbed Leng Ruoli in his arms. "So it seems you still like it the hard way!"
Leng Ruoli giggled, her small hand resting on Jiang Muye's shoulder as she exchanged a look with him. "Put me down."
"Nope, that's what you get for not listening." Jiang Muye snorted.
"I was just worried you'd get tired."
"My stamina is great, and you're still worried I can't keep up and I'll get tired?" Jiang Muye raised an eyebrow. "I didn't even go to the gym today, so here's a perfect chance for me to get some exercise, and you're not even willing to help me out."
"But…"
"If you're not willing to let me carry you, then I won't have dinner with you tonight, I'm already full from being mad anyway." Jiang Muye turned his face away.
He deliberately pretended to be angry, and Leng Ruoli carefully studied his expression. After weighing it for a moment, she pouted her red lips and lowered her head. "Alright, I'll let you carry me, okay."
Jiang Muye, who had just been faking anger, immediately looked utterly delighted. "Heh heh, I was waiting for you to say that."
After Jiang Muye set Leng Ruoli down, he immediately hoisted her onto his back.
Leng Ruoli nestled against Jiang Muye's back, and feeling his strong, powerful back, she felt a sense of security.
She was secretly smiling, her eyes full of light.
She enjoyed it, hugging Jiang Muye's neck tightly, and said softly by his ear, "Then I'll have to trouble my boyfriend~ Please take me to the front of the girls' dorm."
"Okay." Jiang Muye answered.
Leng Ruoli's face was filled with a happy smile.
She tightened her arms a bit more, and tried to let her toes touch the ground, so she could share Jiang Muye's burden and weight, and keep him from feeling too tired.
While Leng Ruoli was playing her little tricks, little did she know that Jiang Muye couldn't have been more relaxed.
With the "Super Strength" the System had given him, and his incredibly powerful arm strength, how could he possibly find carrying Leng Ruoli difficult.
Jiang Muye carried Leng Ruoli and walked steadily forward, and he felt that walking through the campus after the rain was quite a romantic sight.
Leng Ruoli wasn't heavy, and to him she was even a bit light.
Her delicate body pressed against his own, her even breathing against the back of his neck, like a little kitten's posture—it all filled Jiang Muye's heart with a heavy, weighty happiness.
Falling in love really was wonderful.
To be liked by someone, to be depended on by someone.
Carefree and untroubled.
Even walking along such a muddy, damp little path wasn't a bad thing for Jiang Muye.
Never mind walking a stretch of rainy road—even if the road ahead were full of thorns, he would shoulder all the burdens and carry her forward through it all.
As Jiang Muye carried Leng Ruoli, the students on the path, for a time, didn't know whom to envy.
Jiang Muye was handsome and unruly, his features clear and refined, wearing a diamond-patterned sweater, indescribably
dashing and free-spirited.
And Leng Ruoli, whom he carried, had a beautiful, charming little face that really showed off her fair skin, not to mention she was wearing a light pink JK outfit, with the same diamond-patterned sweater as Jiang Muye, a pleated long skirt below, and black stockings wrapping her slender, pretty legs.
Was the point her figure?
No.
