Chapter 320: Lost Memories

# Rejected 99 Times, the Aloof Campus Belle Comes On Strong

## Boss Cutie

Father Jiang muttered, "Who's doing that?" He tugged at Mother Jiang's sleeve. "Give me a little face in front of our son and daughter-in-law, would you?"

Mother Jiang gave a proud little huff.

Jiang Muye laughed. "Alright, alright, I take after you two! You've both reached the proper fruit of your cultivation, so Ruoli and I will have to learn from you in the future!"

He really did envy his parents' relationship. To keep a marriage going for so many years, and still be so loving now.

Their flirting and teasing gave off a deep, sweet affection.

Leng Ruoli nodded along with Jiang Muye. "Right, we want to be as happy as you two."

That made Father Jiang grin from ear to ear, and he immediately launched into passing on his experienced marital wisdom. While he chattered on endlessly, Mother Jiang pinched his arm, a little embarrassed.

Father Jiang grabbed her hand with a smile, and the two of them exchanged glances, which made Jiang Muye secretly enjoy the sight.

"Son, tell us properly how you proposed today," Father Jiang asked after he was done showing off his affection.

Jiang Muye told them the whole process, leaving nothing out — though of course he kept the part about his accident in the water to himself.

He'd thought he would get praise from Father Jiang and Mother Jiang, but instead they looked at each other, their expressions turning grim.

Jiang Muye sensed the heavy atmosphere.

He narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "What's going on?"

Father Jiang and Mother Jiang snapped to their senses.

Father Jiang instinctively said to Jiang Muye, "It's nothing. As long as you two can be together, that's good. That proposal method was pretty nice."

Mother Jiang was still a bit worried. "You should stay out of the water from now on. It's still not safe."

"It's fine, I'm a great swimmer." Jiang Muye felt strange inside. He sensed his parents were hiding something from him, but with Leng Ruoli present, there was no way he could ask directly.

After chatting for a while, Jiang Muye found an excuse to send Leng Ruoli upstairs first.

Then he held back Father Jiang and Mother Jiang, who were about to leave, and asked them, "Mom, Dad, are you hiding something from me? It seems to have something to do with the water."

Their eyes darted away, and they forced a smile. "No."

But the more they acted like that, the more Jiang Muye felt something was wrong.

He wasn't a child. How could he think there was nothing fishy going on?

So Jiang Muye asked, displeased, "I'm grown up now. You can keep it from me now, but I'll investigate it myself when the time comes."

With that, Jiang Muye made to leave. Afraid he'd do something rash, Father Jiang and Mother Jiang hurriedly grabbed his arm, stopping him.

"Don't go. We'll tell you, alright?" Father Jiang sighed.

Mother Jiang was startled. "Their father…"

"We should just tell him." Father Jiang nodded at Mother Jiang.

Mother Jiang still hesitated, but could only nod.

Father Jiang and Mother Jiang sat on the sofa, and Jiang Muye sat across from them, looking at their solemn faces.

His hands clenched together, and he felt nervous.

Jiang Muye's sixth sense told him something serious must have happened, otherwise his parents wouldn't look like this.

Father Jiang took a deep breath and told Jiang Muye, "Six years ago, someone stabbed you in the shoulder. You were beaten black and blue and thrown into the water. Your head took a severe blow."

Jiang Muye was stunned. "No way? How do I not remember any of it!"

Father Jiang's eyes grew complicated. "You lost your memory."

"Impossible!" Jiang Muye retorted without a shred of hesitation. "I clearly remember things from when I was little."

"You do remember things from childhood. That's because yours is selective amnesia — part of your memory disappeared," Mother Jiang said meaningfully to Jiang Muye. "You were badly injured back then. When they pulled you out of the water, you were already unconscious, and you even had to undergo brain surgery."

"The surgery was a success, but you lost part of your memory. Because you were pushed into the water and soaked in it for several hours, nearly dying, we were very worried the same tragedy would happen again and stimulate your brain, so we didn't let you go swimming again."

That was a mother's way of protecting her son.

After all, having been through something so terrible, if the scene triggered those feelings and brought back that tragic day, it would be a serious blow to Jiang Muye.

As parents, of course they hoped their child would never remember anything.

Jiang Muye's brows knitted tightly. He'd always thought of himself as carefree, but he'd never imagined he had once suffered such a tragic experience.

"Was it revenge? Or a grudge killing?" Jiang Muye's throat trembled.

Mother Jiang shook her head. "We don't know. The police closed the case in a hurry back then, saying some thugs from the underworld attacked someone, and you just happened to be the victim."

Jiang Muye's palms clenched tight.

No wonder those strange images had suddenly surfaced while he was in the water.

So those were the images he'd selectively forgotten.

Even though they were just scattered fragments, every one of them made his mind uneasy.

Much less what had actually happened on the spot — how brutal it must have been.

Jiang Muye could finally explain why there was such a hideous, terrifying scar on his shoulder.

And he understood why his parents had forbidden him from going into the water.

But something still felt off to him, as if something had been left out.

While Jiang Muye was frowning in thought, Father Jiang and Mother Jiang reached a consensus. "Stop thinking about it. It's not some good thing anyway. Since you've forgotten, let it stay forgotten."

Jiang Muye looked up and saw the worry in Father Jiang and Mother Jiang's eyes. He immediately nodded at them. "Alright, I understand."

He wanted to be a sensible son, and not make his parents worry about him.

That was right. The matter was over, so why bring it up again?

Especially since it wasn't some good memory.

No matter what happened in the past, could it affect his current happiness? The point was that he was living very well right now.

Father Jiang and Mother Jiang smiled with relief.

"Mom, Dad, get to bed early. I'll head up first." Jiang Muye smiled at them. Just as he was about to walk to the stairs, he turned and ran back.

"Wait, I have one request."

Faced with Jiang Muye's plea, Father Jiang and Mother Jiang were a bit puzzled. "What request?"

"Don't tell Ruoli about this. I'm afraid she'll worry." Jiang Muye said calmly. "It won't be good if she starts letting her imagination run wild."

Jiang Muye didn't want Leng Ruoli to associate it with those terrible images. Best if this matter could be turned over and never mentioned again.

Father Jiang and Mother Jiang said in unison, "Of course."

They didn't want to bring it up either and stir up trouble.

Jiang Muye said thanks and headed upstairs.

He returned to his room and saw Leng Ruoli lying on her side on the bed, looking at her phone.

Without hesitation, Jiang Muye pressed against her back and wrapped his arms around her waist.

In an instant, he felt all his exhaustion vanish.

Leng Ruoli felt Jiang Muye's warmth and smiled faintly. She turned her head to look at Jiang Muye and asked, "You're back? What were you just doing?"
