Chapter 37: A View of All Beneath the Mountain, the Scenery Familiar From Before
"Boss Cutie?"
"How is it?" Leng Ruoli asked, half-biting her little cherry lips as she gazed shyly at Jiang Muye.
"You look amazing." Jiang Muye wasn't just being polite. Praise was owed where praise was due. She was superbly beautiful to begin with; how could the head of the Four Great Campus Belles possibly be lacking?
Leng Ruoli's face grew hotter still.
She kept her hand pressed over her chest the whole time, incredibly bashful, like a peach waiting to ripen — a feast for the eyes.
She had never actually worn such a revealing dress before.
Low-cut with a slit, it greatly accentuated her figure.
Especially wearing it for the boy she liked — it made her even more embarrassed.
While Leng Ruoli was feeling shy, she suddenly sensed a shadow falling over her. Before she could react, she felt a warmth on her shoulders.
Her long curled lashes fluttered faintly. She discovered a pale white fox-fur coat draped over her, and looked up in surprise to meet Jiang Muye's dark eyes.
"Sorry. I thought it looked nice when it was hanging there, but I didn't expect it to be quite this revealing. Adding a coat might help a bit," Jiang Muye said sincerely.
Leng Ruoli's brows lit up with joy. She buried her face shyly and said, "Thank you. I really like it."
"I'm glad you like it. Then go change out of it and I'll have the salesgirl wrap it up for you," Jiang Muye said with a smile.
But Leng Ruoli shook her head and said, "No. I'll just wear this out."
"Alright." Jiang Muye had no objection.
As long as she liked it.
So Jiang Muye went to pay, and Leng Ruoli immediately handed her membership card to the salesgirl. The salesgirl said with a beaming smile, "There's a promotion today — buy one get one free, one item's free, so your total comes to three thousand yuan."
Jiang Muye was stunned when he saw the receipt. It was far cheaper than he'd imagined.
He'd assumed everything in a luxury store like this would be super expensive, but now he found it was actually pretty cheap.
After Jiang Muye led Leng Ruoli out, the guy who'd been chatting with him earlier said excitedly, "There's a promotion today? Buy one get one free?"
The salesgirl replied expressionlessly, "Sorry, there's no promotion today."
"But I just saw you give them a discount!" the guy began to argue.
The salesgirl replied expressionlessly, "That was a promotion for Miss Leng alone. She's a vvvvip of this store. Besides, she'll cover the difference afterward."
There was no promotion in the store at all. Leng Ruoli had simply arranged things in advance — after they shopped here, give Jiang Muye the lowest price possible, and she would reimburse the rest.
Leng Ruoli had only one goal: to keep Jiang Muye's spending to a minimum.
She didn't want him spending too much money. If she could help him save, she'd help him save. She didn't want him living too frugally.
That fur coat alone should have cost seventy or eighty thousand yuan — how could it possibly be just a thousand or so? It was simply a favor to Leng Ruoli; she would personally pay the rest to the shopkeeper afterward.
At this moment, Leng Ruoli and Jiang Muye were walking through the mall.
Leng Ruoli tugged the fur coat around her and said to Jiang Muye with a bright smile, "Thank you for the gift. I really like it. Then let me buy you a gift too."
"What gift?"
Leng Ruoli immediately pointed at the cotton candy in a vendor's hands not far away and said, "This~"
This was quite beyond Jiang Muye's expectations.
He'd assumed the Cold Campus Belle would only give things like cars. He hadn't expected her to give such a little trinket too. Quite childlike.
Jiang Muye let out a low chuckle. "I'm not a kid. Why are you buying me cotton candy?"
Leng Ruoli stuck out her little pink tongue sheepishly and said, "I'd never admit it's because I want some. Besides, I want to cheer you up — it doesn't matter whether you're an adult or a kid."
"Alright, then cheer me up." Jiang Muye let out an involuntary laugh.
Just as Leng Ruoli was about to run off to buy cotton candy, she suddenly noticed a supermarket employee pushing a huge train of shopping carts rumbling over, about to hit Jiang Muye. Her eyes flew wide.
"Watch out—"
Jiang Muye heard a hurried shout, then felt his body pressed down. In the next instant, his whole body was shoved against the wall by a soft, delicate frame.
A hot, sweet breath buried itself into the crook of Jiang Muye's neck.
He felt rather flattered and caught off guard.
His palm clamped around her slender, willowy waist. She had him pressed entirely against the wall.
Jiang Muye lifted his eyes and saw Leng Ruoli before him. His blood suddenly ran hot.
Because she'd lunged over, the white fur coat had slipped down to her ribs, exposing her round, dainty shoulders.
A vast expanse of cream-colored skin, luscious as butter, with a faint sheen. Paired with that swan neck and deep collarbones, it was a scene of vivid, living beauty.
Not to mention that with the fur coat fallen away, her chest rose and fell with nervous pitter-pattering, and those full peaks pressed flush against Jiang Muye.
The sensation was one hundred percent.
It was truly a case of gazing down at all the lesser mountains — a familiar scene from days of old.
Jiang Muye cried out inwardly that this was fatal.
Looking at Leng Ruoli's beautiful face and her alluring posture, Jiang Muye was visibly intoxicated.
The tip of his nose was filled with her fragrant scent — not perfume, but her natural body odor. It was utterly refreshing, and his heart surged.
"Sorry, are you okay?" Leng Ruoli panted. A faint cherry pink had seeped onto her face, making her lips look glossy, full, and plump.
Thankfully, the shopping carts hadn't hit Jiang Muye.
"I'm fine. I just never expected to be kabedon'd by a girl." Jiang Muye's lips curved upward.
Leng Ruoli's ears instantly turned crimson. She explained, "The situation was urgent, so I just…"
Though his chest was firm and powerful and his palm warm, Leng Ruoli was reluctant to part, but she had to maintain some modesty. Just as she subconsciously moved to get off Jiang Muye, something surprising happened.
Leng Ruoli felt a hot palm climb onto her shoulder.
It was like a pebble dropped into the lake of her heart, instantly setting off waves.
Her face flushed rapidly, her fair, jade-like skin growing more radiant than spring blossoms.
Jiang Muye pulled Leng Ruoli's fur coat back up without hesitation. The reason was simple — he didn't want her exposing herself, and he didn't want her catching cold.
Her skin was very smooth, but Jiang Muye didn't have a trace of improper thoughts.
He was simply helping, not wanting to take advantage of the girl.
But what he didn't know was that Leng Ruoli's heartbeat, because of his actions, was pounding like a little drum.
The whole world seemed to glow with radiance.
"Let's go buy cotton candy." Jiang Muye looked at Leng Ruoli, then went to find the vendor.
Leng Ruoli smiled excitedly, trotting after Jiang Muye like a little fangirl.
"Two cotton candies." Jiang Muye handed over the money directly.
Leng Ruoli was surprised. "Wasn't I treating you?"
"You treat, I pay." Jiang Muye smiled a meaningful smile. "I can still afford cotton candy. Consider it me cheering you up too."
A sentence Jiang Muye said without thinking made Leng Ruoli secretly delighted.
The two of them sat by the fountain, no extra words, just simply eating cotton candy, but Leng Ruoli felt an indescribable sweetness.
Jiang Muye finished his cotton candy in a few quick bites, the sweet taste lingering in his mouth.
He didn't know when he'd stopped eating cotton candy, but now he'd actually gotten the chance to eat it again. It was rather childish, but…
Jiang Muye narrowed his eyes and looked at the cute girl beside him, eating her cotton candy.
It was actually quite charming.
"Is there something on my face?" Leng Ruoli asked blankly, seeing Jiang Muye's heated gaze.
Her little paws rubbed her face randomly, but found nothing.
Jiang Muye chuckled softly and said, "Here."
Leng Ruoli felt his fingertip brush across her lips. He was probably just wiping off the cotton candy stain, but to Leng Ruoli it was utterly intoxicating.
Her breath caught. The full peaks of her chest heaved with effort, the outlines growing deeper.
"Done." Jiang Muye wiped the cotton candy off Leng Ruoli.
His fingertip was still hot, though whether from touching the corner of her lips or the heat of the melting cotton candy, he couldn't tell.
The sensation was nice.
He liked it.
Leng Ruoli nodded shyly, biting her red lips.
"Alright, let's head back." Jiang Muye got up.
Leng Ruoli was dazed. "Go back now?"
"What else? Is there something you still want to do with me?" Jiang Muye looked at Leng Ruoli in confusion.
