Chapter 379: The Campus Belle Chases You, the Show Begins
Boss Cutie
Jiang Muye struggled to pull Mi Lu's hands off him and said, "Stop it, Sister Mi Lu. Let go of me first."
"No. I haven't hugged you in so long. Can't I hug you until I've had my fill?" Mi Lu grumbled, clearly still wanting more.
In the end, under Jiang Muye's speechless stare, she could only let go.
"Fine, I won't mess with you anymore, alright? Here, sit." Mi Lu gave Jiang Muye a mischievous smile and waved him and his roommates over to sit down.
After Jiang Muye and his roommates sat down, Mi Lu had the food brought out.
Naturally, they served the hotel's signature dishes, and there was no shortage of seafood. Big fish and big meat—all of it was expensive, precious delicacies.
The aroma of meat filled the air, making everyone restless with appetite.
"Don't be polite tonight, eat whatever you like~" Mi Lu rested her hands beneath her chin and then said to the waiter, "Bring me a bottle of '82 Lafite."
Hearing Mi Lu's words, the roommates were thrilled. "Sister Mi Lu, you're really generous."
"Nonsense. I finally came back, so of course I have to throw a big feast. If I didn't even open a bottle of red wine and just fobbed you off with some cheap Champagne, you'd all say I was stingy." Mi Lu gave a little humph.
Wherever her gaze fell, it sent a tingle through people.
Kai, Old He, and Little White Dove all smiled and showered Mi Lu with praise.
Jiang Muye, however, wore a flat expression, unable to muster much enthusiasm. He was so bored he started fiddling with the cashews.
He peeled the seaweed off the cashews.
Plain cashews tasted best.
Seaweed made them weird. Jiang Muye had always disliked anything with seaweed.
While Jiang Muye was waging his stubborn battle against the seaweed, the door swung open with a bang.
At first, Jiang Muye thought it was a waiter bringing food, and he instinctively leaned to the side to make room.
But then he caught a whiff of a pleasant fragrance unlike the smell of food.
This scent…
Every nerve in Jiang Muye's body tensed.
His eyes widened as he stared in shock at the girl who had suddenly appeared.
She wore a thin, light green dress with a cream-white coat over it. Very ladylike, and very beautiful.
Especially when her gaze locked onto Jiang Muye, the corners of her eyes curved with warmth.
"Sorry, there was traffic on the way. I'm late," she said.
Not only was Jiang Muye shocked, but his roommates were stunned as well.
They had never imagined that Leng Ruoli would show up here too.
But on second thought, it made sense.
After all, Mi Lu and Leng Ruoli were so close. Leng Ruoli couldn't possibly be absent from this celebration.
It was precisely because Leng Ruoli had shifted her affections to Yu Xi that the brothers no longer thought much of her.
Little White Dove set down his chopsticks and said flatly, "I don't know why, but I've suddenly lost my appetite. Never imagined some people would still be in the mood to eat."
"Some people do bad things—aren't they afraid ghosts will knock on their door at midnight?" Kai added.
Old He nodded along. "Can someone like that have a conscience? If she had any conscience left, she wouldn't have done such a thing—handing out green hats wholesale."
As Jiang Muye's brothers, they had to stand on his side.
Leng Ruoli's little face turned very pale. She bit her red lips and instinctively tried to explain. "I actually…"
But before she could explain, Jiang Muye cut her off.
"I just want to eat a meal in peace. Don't talk. I'm afraid I'll feel sick."
Jiang Muye's hostility was obvious.
Even Mi Lu could sense Jiang Muye was targeting her, let alone how awkward Leng Ruoli felt right now.
She immediately began to speak up for Leng Ruoli. "I invited her here. There's some misunderstanding between you two, and you need to talk it out."
Jiang Muye instinctively dabbed his lips with a napkin and said, "Sister Mi Lu, there's no misunderstanding between her and me. If you want to play peacemaker, spare me. I'm not sticking around. I have things to do, so I'll be going first."
Jiang Muye got up and headed outside on his own.
The food on the table hadn't even been touched.
His roommates moved to leave as well. After all, with Jiang Muye gone, they had no mood to eat either.
Leng Ruoli grew frantic and called out, "Muye!" She immediately chased after him.
"Let's go up and see!" Little White Dove was anxious and moved to follow, but Mi Lu blocked the doorway.
"Give them some space to talk properly," Mi Lu stressed.
"What's there to talk about? She put a green hat on our brother. I'm already going easy on her by not hitting her!" Little White Dove rolled up his sleeves roughly.
Kai nodded. "Sister Mi Lu, I always thought you were pretty reasonable. How are you muddled about this? She's the one in the wrong. You shouldn't be indulging her."
Old He was disappointed in Mi Lu. "She betrayed Muzi. That's her fault. She deserves it. Now she has the nerve to come looking for Muzi, and you can't help the evildoer."
Mi Lu was speechless. She erupted into a silent storm of profanity. "All of you shut up! Do you even know the truth? You're here slandering a girl left and right! She and Yu Xi are completely innocent, and her feelings for Jiang Muye are real!"
That left the guys confused.
"What's actually going on?" Little White Dove asked anxiously.
"You'll find out eventually. Right now she can't say. It involves her personal privacy." Mi Lu really wanted to spill everything, but she had no means to decide for Leng Ruoli.
Mi Lu could only say awkwardly, "As far as I know, the two of them haven't broken up yet. Of course, even if they're going to break up, it should be said to their faces. You guys stop stirring the pot."
Although the roommates had some objections to Mi Lu's behavior, thinking it over, they had to admit she had a point. Some relationships really did need a chance to be severed cleanly.
If Leng Ruoli kept pestering him, that wouldn't solve anything either.
Of course, if Leng Ruoli really hadn't cheated on Muzi, they hoped the two of them could make up.
By now, Jiang Muye had already rushed into the corridor and was standing in front of the elevator.
He frantically pressed the down button, and then saw Leng Ruoli running over. "Muye, don't go~!"
Jiang Muye's brows knit tightly.
Seeing her anxious face, his heart ached and swelled.
Jiang Muye absolutely could not forgive a woman who had betrayed him.
His gaze locked onto the elevator button, and he manipulated it rapidly with his mind.
From the twenty-fifth floor, it dropped straight to the third.
"Ding."
The elevator doors finally opened.
Jiang Muye quickly stepped inside.
The elevator doors began to close.
Just as Jiang Muye breathed a sigh of relief, a pair of fair, delicate hands reached in.
"Bang—" The elevator doors were pried open.
Jiang Muye watched in shocked disbelief.
Seeing her fingers red from being caught, his heart instinctively pounded.
As much as he hated her, his first reaction was to press the open button.
