Chapter 454: My Mom Doesn't Agree
After 99 Rejections, the Aloof Campus Belle Comes On Strong
Boss Cutie
"No… it's fine. But when is he going to show up?" Leng Ruoli pretended to have suppressed her discomfort.
"He left," Xiang Shan said in irritation.
"Huh? He left? How?" Leng Ruoli was astonished.
She had come today specifically to meet the other party, but by the time she arrived, she discovered he had left early.
What a shame!
She had no idea who her mother's love interest was, or what kind of person could make her mom throw caution to the wind and disregard the age gap entirely.
Xiang Shan bit her red lips and spoke through gritted teeth, "You'll definitely get to meet him next time. No rush. No rush."
It was as if she wasn't speaking to Leng Ruoli at all, but to her own heart.
Xiang Shan unconsciously downed the rest of her coffee, a trace of resolve in her eyes.
Leng Ruoli could tell her mom seemed to be in a bad mood, probably related to that person, but she didn't feel comfortable bringing it up.
And so the meeting ended on a sour note.
When Jiang Muye came home that evening, he found a petite figure curled up on the sofa.
"Sweetheart, I'm back. Didn't you say you were going out? How come you're home?" Jiang Muye stepped forward and pulled Leng Ruoli into his arms, kissing the back of her flawless white neck.
Then he heard her soft whimpering.
"I met with my mom today."
"Hm? That's good." Jiang Muye knew Leng Ruoli rarely saw her mother, and that deep down she yearned for maternal love. Having a chance to get together was naturally a good thing—but why was she unhappy?
Leng Ruoli turned to face him, her pretty face clouded with worry. "I brought up our marriage to my mom, and then she…"
Looking at her expression, Jiang Muye had already vaguely guessed.
"It's fine. She hasn't met me, so she's bound to have some reservations about me. But it doesn't matter. Given enough time, she'll definitely agree to our marriage. It's a sure thing, so don't worry." Jiang Muye began soothing Leng Ruoli's emotions.
Leng Ruoli's long lashes blinked at Jiang Muye. She nestled into his chest, looking utterly aggrieved, rubbing her head back and forth.
"Then if I can't marry you in the end, what am I supposed to do? You won't just abandon me, will you?" Leng Ruoli choked out.
Jiang Muye rubbed her thick, long hair, pressing his forehead against her delicate brow, and shook his head. "How could I? There's no way I'd ever abandon you. Where there's a policy, there's a countermeasure. I refuse to believe your mom can beat this couple apart and hunt us down."
After looking into Jiang Muye's burning eyes, Leng Ruoli started giggling.
"What are you laughing at?" Jiang Muye was baffled, seeing Leng Ruoli—who had just been steeped in misery—now happy as could be.
Leng Ruoli leaned in and whispered softly by Jiang Muye's ear, "At this point, there's nothing I can do about that. I'll just have to marry you."
Jiang Muye blinked in surprise, staring at Leng Ruoli in astonishment.
A hint of sweetness surfaced on Leng Ruoli's face. "My mom agreed to our marriage."
"Really?! Well now, so you were faking it!" Jiang Muye immediately pressed himself on top of her, his hands wandering all over Leng Ruoli. She dodged and giggled sweetly. "Stop, I was wrong, not now! It's a special time!"
At that, Jiang Muye suddenly grew excited. His movements became far more careful than before as he asked, "What do you mean, a special time? What did that mean? Do you have some good news you're not telling me?"
Seeing Jiang Muye's full-of-expectation look, Leng Ruoli's ears turned slightly red. "No."
"Impossible. You must be lying to me." Jiang Muye kneaded Leng Ruoli's waist, pressing further. "You just said 'special time,' so I figure there must be something."
Leng Ruoli huffed. "I got my period. You didn't think I was pregnant, did you?"
"So that's it?" Jiang Muye understood. Though he wasn't as happy as before, he wasn't exactly disappointed either. Instead, he showed Leng Ruoli great concern. "You ate ice a couple days ago. You okay?"
Jiang Muye knew girls had best not eat ice before their period, since it could easily cause cramps. Especially since he'd seen Leng Ruoli suffer through menstrual pain before, he couldn't help but feel his heart ache.
Leng Ruoli gently patted Jiang Muye's head. "It's fine, doesn't hurt. It's just—"
Seeing Leng Ruoli hemming and hawing, Jiang Muye grew even more anxious. "Can you just say it all in one breath? I'm dying here."
Leng Ruoli suddenly grabbed a pillow and covered her face with it, finding it hard to speak. "I really want to tell you, but it's just so embarrassing."
Jiang Muye leaned in, sprawling beside Leng Ruoli. "Come on, tell me. It's just the two of us. What's there to be embarrassed about? Haven't we done plenty of embarrassing things together?"
Leng Ruoli's little face burned hot as she said to Jiang Muye, "I was wearing a skirt today, and then I leaked through. The blood flowed down, and it just so happened that the cleaning lady saw it."
"And then?"
"She… thought I had a miscarriage!" Leng Ruoli's ear tips flushed red. She deliberately averted her gaze, not knowing how to face Jiang Muye's reaction.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Muye was dumbfounded.
Ah, that was even possible?
Although Jiang Muye hadn't been there, from Leng Ruoli's description he could indeed feel just how awkward the scene had been.
"The lady was pretty enthusiastic. She wanted to call 120 for me, and I hurried to stop her. Actually, when I first saw the blood I was scared too. I was afraid that if my baby really didn't make it, what would I do…" Leng Ruoli lowered her head, a little worried.
"Impossible. Our child will be healthy and well. Don't say things like that." Jiang Muye, after all, had a System—how could he possibly let something like that happen?
After Jiang Muye soothed Leng Ruoli's emotions, she broke into a smile and unconsciously kissed Jiang Muye's cheek. "Please take good care of me for the rest of my life, future dad."
"Of course, wifey." Jiang Muye looked at Leng Ruoli tenderly, unable to resist grabbing her and taking a bite.
The two clung together like glue. After being intimate for a while, Leng Ruoli's stomach really did start to hurt.
"It hurts, it's really cramping." Leng Ruoli clutched her lower abdomen, biting her lower lip pitifully.
Jiang Muye was very worried. "Hold on."
He quickly went to find the medical kit, rummaging through the cabinets and pulling out a bunch of medicines before taking out a box of motherwort granules.
Without another word, Jiang Muye started brewing the motherwort granules. Drinking this after getting your period made your stomach feel much better—not uncomfortable at all.
After confirming the water wasn't too hot, Jiang Muye handed the brewed motherwort granules directly to Leng Ruoli. "Drink up."
