Chapter 472: A Mysterious Surprise

When Leng Ruoli heard that, she broke into a grin. Jiang Muye didn't often say sweet things, but every time he did, she enjoyed it immensely.

After Leng Ruoli had Jiang Muye change into an ordinary plaid shirt, the two of them headed out together.

Jiang Muye and Leng Ruoli went to the restaurant they'd agreed to meet Xiang Shan at.

Before going in, Jiang Muye glanced at his watch.

"What's wrong?" Leng Ruoli asked, somehow getting the feeling that Jiang Muye was keeping an eye on the time.

"Nothing. There's a mysterious surprise coming in a bit," Jiang Muye said mysteriously to Leng Ruoli.

His words filled Leng Ruoli with curiosity. "What mysterious surprise? Give me a spoiler, I really want to know."

Jiang Muye had definitely prepared something, otherwise he sure wouldn't have said that!

The corners of Jiang Muye's mouth curled up. "No rush. You'll find out when the time comes," he said to Leng Ruoli.

Leng Ruoli was a bit displeased. "You just have to be all mysterious about it."

She walked proudly to the front, and Jiang Muye ran up to grab her little hand, and she was happy again.

After Jiang Muye brought Leng Ruoli and sat down with Xiang Shan at the restaurant.

Xiang Shan flipped through the menu. "Order whatever you want to eat today, it's on me, as thanks for the inspiration you gave me today."

"Then I won't hold back." Jiang Muye started ordering a whole string of dishes, and when Leng Ruoli heard, they were all things she liked.

She stared at Jiang Muye in surprise, and Jiang Muye asked with a smile, "Is that enough?"

Leng Ruoli said sweetly, "Then get me another black pepper beef tenderloin and sweet and sour spare ribs. Those are your favorites."

Xiang Shan's eyelids lifted.

Good grief, these two were secretly showing off their love right in front of her again.

They were ordering each other's favorite dishes, so what about her? Who was going to order for her?

So it turned out she was just a light bulb, there specifically to illuminate Jiang Muye and her daughter.

"Then get me a steamed egg with clams." A deep, resonant voice rang out.

Xiang Shan's heart trembled, and she abruptly raised her head, only to see a familiar face appear before her.

Why was he here!

"Dad, you're here!" Leng Ruoli called out happily.

"That's right. It's a family meal, how could you not invite me?" Father Leng said with a smile.

He sat down directly next to Xiang Shan.

Xiang Shan uncomfortably shifted a bit to the side.

Father Leng immediately shifted closer to her, even nearer than before.

At that, Xiang Shan exploded, roaring at Father Leng, "Leng Qihua, what are you trying to do, don't push people too far!"

"I just want to have a nice meal with you. Besides, the lighting's good over here, isn't it nice for me to move over a bit?" Father Leng's tone carried a hint of grievance.

Xiang Shan hastily took a sip of red wine and said in irritation, "If you think the lighting here's no good, then get lost early, don't be an eyesore here. I even feel like you're blocking my light."

While Xiang Shan was yelling at Father Leng, he didn't explode, but instead leaned close to her. "No way. The whole family's here, how could I be absent? I stayed up through the time difference and rushed back on a plane, I'm starving to death."

Leng Ruoli was quite surprised by Father Leng's appearance, and then she secretly said to Jiang Muye, "Is this the mysterious surprise you prepared?"

"Yep. I thought it over and in the end felt the only one who could subdue your mom is your dad." The corners of Jiang Muye's mouth traced an arc.

Leng Ruoli secretly smiled and gave Jiang Muye a thumbs up. "Expert!"

Jiang Muye was smug.

Although his IQ dropped when he was in love, his overall IQ was still astonishingly high.

When the steamed egg with clams arrived, Father Leng smiled and scooped a spoonful of steamed egg for Xiang Shan. "Here, try it. This used to be your favorite."

Xiang Shan squinted sideways at Father Leng's eager manner and said expressionlessly, "Can you get away from me?"

"No." Father Leng shook his head. "I just want to have a nice meal with you."

"But I don't want to eat with you." Xiang Shan spat coldly. "It ruins my mood."

"If your mood's bad, you need to eat even more." Father Leng directly brought a spoonful to Xiang Shan's mouth. "Here, eat it."

"Leng Qihua, get away from me!" Xiang Shan was thoroughly disgusted.

"How can I get away? We're husband and wife!" Father Leng said斩钉截铁.

Jiang Muye was quite surprised to hear that.

Xiang Shan still hadn't divorced her Father-in-Law? Then she was in such a hurry to find her next spring?

"What husband and wife! Don't talk nonsense, we've been separated for many years, in the eyes of the law it's long since existed in name only. Once we file the paperwork, we won't be husband and wife anymore," Xiang Shan said icily.

The reason Xiang Shan hadn't divorced Leng Qihua before was simply that when they were about to divorce, the incident of Leng Ruoli being kidnapped happened right then, and Leng Ruoli's body and mind had both been harmed.

So to protect her daughter, afraid her emotions would spin out of control, Xiang Shan hadn't divorced Leng Qihua, maintaining a marriage on the surface.

But over the years the two had been separated, with hardly any contact at all. This marriage had long since existed in name only, and under foreign law it was long since invalid.

"We haven't filed the paperwork yet, so you're still my lawful wife." Father Leng stubbornly said to Xiang Shan. "As long as I'm unwilling, you can't leave me."

Xiang Shan glared fiercely at Father Leng. She rubbed her temples, completely unable to stand Father Leng's rigid, stubborn personality. "Then we'll go to court, and see whether this marriage can still be divorced."

Watching her parents start arguing like before, Leng Ruoli was very afraid.

She'd lacked love since childhood, and she liked for the family to be harmonious, for her parents to be loving as before, and not to argue every day.

"Mom, Dad struggled to rush back on a plane and stayed up through the time difference to keep you company. Let's not argue while the family eats together, just have a nice meal." Leng Ruoli soothed Xiang Shan's emotions.

Xiang Shan looked at her daughter's worried expression, gave a cold humph, and stopped arguing with Father Leng. "Fine, for my daughter's sake I'll have a nice meal with you, but don't get any ideas."

Xiang Shan being willing to take the out was already a good turn.

Father Leng was all smiles. "Good, good, good. Then eat some steamed egg and calm down."

Jiang Muye watched Father Leng, who'd been so serious before, now fawning over Xiang Shan and currying favor with her, peeling shrimp for her one moment and picking fish bones out for her the next.

He even removed the shrimp veins, and insisted on feeding it to Xiang Shan himself.

Xiang Shan frowned, complaining under her breath, but still gave Father Leng face and ate the food.

After seeing her parents interact, a hint of happiness appeared in Leng Ruoli's eyes.

Jiang Muye's mood grew cheerful along with hers, and he held Leng Ruoli's little hand.

Leng Ruoli leaned against Jiang Muye's shoulder, and the two of them were immersed in this simple happiness.

After the meal, Xiang Shan wanted to go shopping.

How could Father Leng leave? He smiled and said to Xiang Shan, "Let's go together! I happen to have things I need to buy, you can pick them out for me."

"I'm not your wife, why would I pick things out for you!" Xiang Shan moved away in disgust.
