Chapter 570: Get on the Car First, Buy the Ticket Later
After Leng Ruoli heard the voice, her heart trembled violently.
She immediately raised her head, and saw the man standing by the door frame.
He wore a black coat, his figure tall and slender, his aura too powerful to ignore. His eyes were soft and bright, and when he looked at her, the corners of his eyes curved, entirely full of deep affection and tenderness.
When he smiled, Leng Ruoli felt as though her dark world had suddenly become bright.
"Muye…?" Leng Ruoli could hardly believe it.
Her voice was trembling.
She was truly afraid this was a dream.
"Jiang Muye, it's really you, how can it be!" Father Leng had thought that Leng Ruoli was just under too much pressure and had been talking nonsense.
But he had never imagined that Jiang Muye would actually appear before his eyes.
Could it be that I'm hallucinating too?
Jiang Muye spoke to Father Leng with some apology, "I'm sorry, it's my fault, I made you worry. I lost my phone, so I didn't get on that flight."
Father Leng clenched his fists. Rather than showing understanding, he roared at Jiang Muye, "Look at you, making my daughter worry so much. She's pregnant, you know! You have to take responsibility for her!"
Father Leng's scolding made Leng Ruoli's heart ache. "He's very tired, don't yell at him."
"Look at this, her arm is still bending toward you!" Father Leng shook his head, entirely unable to understand why Jiang Muye couldn't have given even a single message.
If Jiang Muye really had gotten on that plane as he'd expected, what would have become of his daughter?
Just give up completely?
An unmarried girl pregnant, the child's father dead, what a huge trial that would be to endure.
Even if the world's judgment was set aside, his daughter would still suffer enormous pressure and pointing fingers. If not for the family's decent circumstances, his daughter would probably have had a very hard time.
When Jiang Muye saw Leng Ruoli speaking up for him, his eyes softened considerably.
He said to Leng Ruoli, "Thank you, this matter was my fault to begin with."
"Then why was your phone off?" Leng Ruoli's voice carried the sound of tears. "I even thought I was dreaming."
"I just got off the plane, I took the earliest flight here, and my phone just happened to run out of battery." Jiang Muye walked forward and wiped Leng Ruoli's tears. "I was wrong, baby, don't cry, look at your eyes, they're all swollen."
Leng Ruoli sniffled, trying hard to calm her emotions. "Couldn't you just charge it!"
"I wanted to, but there was no way. Weren't you going to video call with me all night?" Jiang Muye laughed wryly.
"I don't care." Leng Ruoli, like a koala, directly reached out and wrapped her arms fully around Jiang Muye's waist. "It's all your fault, woo woo woo, you have no idea how I've spent these past two days!"
Jiang Muye stroked Leng Ruoli's soft hair, able to tell that Leng Ruoli's dependence on him was very deep.
After all, Leng Ruoli had gone through such torment, so she definitely needed him even more.
Jiang Muye bent down and kissed Leng Ruoli's forehead. "I won't do this again. My phone will be on for you from now on. If there's any problem, I'll tell you the first thing."
Leng Ruoli nodded.
Father Leng stared at Jiang Muye with a serious expression. "Don't think that just saying a few words means this matter is forgiven. It's naturally good that you're fine, but after all, you got my daughter pregnant. This responsibility can't just be casually escaped."
"I have no intention of escaping responsibility." Jiang Muye looked Father Leng straight in the eye. "If allowed, I'd like to register our marriage with her within the next two days."
When Leng Ruoli heard Jiang Muye's words, she was secretly delighted, a smile overflowing on her little face.
It was obvious she was very happy to hear this news, and it immediately parted the dark clouds surrounding Leng Ruoli's world.
She had dreamed day and night of marrying Jiang Muye.
Father Leng gazed deeply at Jiang Muye.
Jiang Muye's expression was calm and resolute. It seemed he wasn't joking, and had truly made his decision after careful consideration.
"No."
Jiang Muye had been full of confidence, but he had never imagined that Father Leng would oppose it.
After hearing Father Leng's words, Jiang Muye couldn't understand. "Why?"
Even Leng Ruoli was shocked. She replied with some displeasure, "Dad, you're not going to oppose me being with Muye like Mom, are you? In this life, I won't marry anyone but Muye."
Seeing Leng Ruoli's stubbornness, Jiang Muye's eyes were full of tenderness.
Father Leng rolled his eyes. "Look at you, so shameless, so forward. Are you even still a daughter of the Leng Family! I'm not agreeing to your marriage, but did I say I oppose your marriage?"
"Then what does that mean?" Jiang Muye was still a bit confused.
Then why had he just rejected his and Leng Ruoli's marriage?
Father Leng said to Jiang Muye, "She is my only daughter. When a daughter gets married, no matter what, this matter must be taken seriously."
"No etiquette or process can be forgotten, it must be done step by step. First the engagement, then the wedding. We can't let people casually look down on the Leng Family, and even more so on my daughter!"
"I don't like boarding the train first and buying the ticket later, but in this situation, there's nothing to be done about it. Don't reveal the pregnancy for now. After the child is three months along, then announce it to the outside world."
Father Leng was protecting his daughter. He didn't want his daughter to be talked to death by idle gossip.
After all, being pregnant before marriage was originally a rather unglamorous matter.
Especially since his daughter was the most outstanding in the world, absolutely not a single stain could be allowed.
Jiang Muye and Leng Ruoli exchanged glances.
After hearing Father Leng's words, neither of them objected.
Jiang Muye nodded. "I was also planning to announce it after three months. After all, this is tradition too. Engagement first, then marriage, I agree."
Leng Ruoli said shyly, "I agree too."
"Good, then it's settled. Talk to your father-in-law, arrange a phone call when the time comes. The engagement banquet must be handled as soon as possible," Father Leng said seriously.
"Alright, no problem." Jiang Muye meant the same thing.
If his parents knew he was about to get married, and that a grandson was about to be born, they'd probably be startled.
But they had been very satisfied with Ruoli as their daughter-in-law before, so now that they knew about the marriage, they would surely be happy too.
So Jiang Muye charged his phone and called his parents.
"Dad, I have something to tell you and Mom. Is Mom there? It's better if you both listen together," Jiang Muye asked.
Father Jiang was stunned. "What's the matter?"
The boy's tone sounded quite serious.
Father Jiang was afraid something had really happened, so he immediately called Mother Jiang over.
"What's going on? Your dad said you have something to say. You didn't get into trouble out there, did you?" Mother Jiang was still worried about her son.
Her son had now become the CEO of the Chen Clan, managing such a large company, successful at a young age. Whose family could compare? But success was success, and there were plenty of troubles too.
She was afraid her son had gotten tangled up in some lawsuit that would be hard to resolve.
