Leng Ruoli's gentle voice put Mother Jiang much more at ease.

"Alright, then we'll do as you say." Mother Jiang was beaming.

And so, when Jiang Muye came back after washing the dishes, Father Jiang and Mother Jiang were all set to head out and tour around H City.

After they left, the two of them sat down on the sofa.

"I want to go too." Leng Ruoli's little face was full of longing. "It's been so long since I went out with you."

Seeing her look both bored and expectant, Jiang Muye stroked her hair. "Aren't you still pregnant?"

"Being pregnant isn't being sick. If I stay cooped up at home every day like this, I'm going to die of boredom. I've seen other pregnant women and none of them are like this." Leng Ruoli started rubbing her little face against Jiang Muye's chest, coaxing him every which way. "I'm really so bored, and the air at home isn't even that good. The weather's so nice today—can we go breathe some fresh air, please?"

"Alright, then I'll do as you say and take you out for a proper good time. But if you get tired, you have to tell me." Jiang Muye cautioned her softly.

Leng Ruoli's eyes curved slightly, and she answered with a smile, "Okay."

And so Leng Ruoli followed Jiang Muye out the door.

At the same time, Father Jiang and Mother Jiang were enjoying the Top-Tier service of their tour group, touring the mountains and waters.

Just then, Father Jiang's voice call rang.

Father Jiang picked up immediately. "Hello, Old Ma."

Old Ma was Father Jiang's card buddy—they usually played cards together.

"Old Jiang, where'd you run off to? Haven't seen you these past couple days! We're three short of a foursome—aren't you coming?" Old Ma asked casually.

"Not coming. I'm out having fun in H City with my wife right now." Father Jiang answered with a chuckle.

"That's a real shame. Let me tell you, my son's bringing his girlfriend home today! I'll send you the photo—take a look at how pretty she is!" Old Ma started showing off.

Soon, Old Ma sent the photo over.

Father Jiang took one look—in the photo was a slim and graceful girl.

Her looks were delicate enough, but compared to Leng Ruoli she was a far cry short.

Beside him, the other card buddies were offering their flattery.

"Old Ma's son really found the prettiest girlfriend! Just look at the photo—she's a real beauty!"

"And that's not all—I hear she's a teacher! A teacher's an iron rice bowl, the benefits are wonderful!"

"Old Ma really is a lucky one."

The praise had Old Ma laughing heartily.

Old Ma said with a smile, "Don't you all say that—anyway, I think my son's taste is just like mine, excellent. I hear he's meeting the parents, which means wedding bells are close. I'm overjoyed—tonight I get to meet my future daughter-in-law. Old Jiang, you'd better tell your son to step it up and bring his girlfriend home too!"

"Don't let my family leave you in the dust, haha. I figure I'll be holding a grandchild soon enough!"

Father Jiang answered flatly, "My son doesn't have a girlfriend anymore."

"Huh?" Old Ma was startled. "Didn't you say before that your son wasn't single anymore? How'd she just disappear?"

The others were shocked too. "That's right, wasn't it the Young Miss of the Mu Group? I hear those Young Misses are hard to wait on—your son must have had a tough time."

"What Young Miss? None of them are as dependable as my son's girlfriend, the teacher. Sure, they say you should marry into a family of equal standing, but without your sister, your son wouldn't be any CEO at all. The Mu family is genuinely wealthy and powerful—forget it, forget it." Old Ma waved his hand.

Father Jiang answered unhappily, "My son doesn't have a girlfriend anymore, but he has a fiancée. The two of them are getting engaged."

That single sentence from Father Jiang instantly stunned Old Ma and the card buddies.

"You're not joking, are you? Your son's really getting engaged?" Old Ma asked with disbelief.

"That's right. Right now my wife and I are touring the mountains and waters, and it was my daughter-in-law who arranged it. She found the best tour group, all so I could have a bit more fun." Father Jiang nodded smugly.

Hearing that, Old Ma was instantly consumed with envy and jealousy.

"I never imagined you'd have such good luck, Old Jiang! Your whole family shooting to success was one thing, but your son's gone and made something of himself, and found such a pretty girlfriend too!"

Old Ma instantly felt that his son's girlfriend was quite good-looking, but they hadn't reached the point of discussing marriage yet. After all, they hadn't even met—who knew what she was really like, whether she'd suit his tastes.

And it wasn't just that—whether there'd be conflicts after marriage was another matter entirely.

"That's right, this daughter-in-law is so sensible, gentle-tempered and patient, and the most important thing is she's pregnant now—with twins, no less!" Father Jiang said smugly.

Mother Jiang was a little worried. "Weren't we supposed to keep it secret for the first three months? How'd you just blurt it all out in one breath?"

After hearing Mother Jiang's words, Father Jiang's heart lurched.

"Right, how did I let that slip!" He really had gotten too carried away, and Father Jiang began to feel some regret.

But on the other end of the line, there was clearly the sound of several friends praising him.

Old Ma in particular was now utterly astonished. "Your daughter-in-law's pregnant too? God, isn't that a double blessing! Here none of us are even fathers-in-law yet, and you're about to become a grandpa! It's infuriating!"

The others chimed in. "Tell me about it. If I had such a pretty daughter-in-law to give me a grandchild, how happy I'd be."

"Ah, my little brat isn't in any hurry at all. He just keeps being a bachelor, and no woman's ever good enough for him. If he could bring home a pretty girl like Miss Mu, I'd burn incense and pray to Buddha, set off firecrackers and celebrate!"

Looking at it this way, Father Jiang really was at the peak of life.

His family circumstances had improved, the whole family was well fed, without any financial burden at all—he'd leapt straight through the dragon gate and gone up a whole tier.

And that wasn't all—his son was the Nation's Husband, the CEO of Chen Group, with popularity, connections and fame. The girlfriend he'd found had a goddess-level face, the Goddess in countless people's hearts.

Prettier than a female celebrity, with a superior family background and a high level of education. Although they hadn't met her in person, from the joy in Father Jiang's voice you could tell she had a good temper and knew how to win people over.

Ah, comparing yourself to others really made you die of envy.

Someone else could have such a pretty daughter-in-law and was about to be promoted to grandpa—how could that not make people envious and jealous?

Even if others tried with all their might, there was nothing they could do to reach Father Jiang's heights.

Originally Father Jiang had been the worst off among the whole crowd, and now he'd turned things around and become the landlord.

His own daughter-in-law really had brought him face!

After bragging with Old Ma and the others, Father Jiang hung up the phone.

Mother Jiang, however, grumbled, "Look at you, getting so carried away, telling everything to anyone."
