Chapter 93: Let's Just Get Married Together
"Exactly. Come on, let's crack open some beers! We'll drink till we drop—one cup to tomorrow, one cup to the past!" Old He went straight down to fetch the beers.
"Once the beers are open, we've gotta have snacks. I'll break out the Drunkard Peanuts I've been saving for ages!" Little White Dove called out.
"Holy crap, you're being this generous today!" Old He was delighted.
Little White Dove grinned and cursed, "You dumb dog, when have I ever been stingy! Eat if you want, or leave it!"
"Of course I'm eating, it's not like I said I wouldn't!" Old He chuckled.
When Jiang Muye climbed down from the top bunk, Kai even patted him on the back and said, "Don't overthink it. You've taken the first step now, and that already shows plenty of courage. The remaining ninety-nine steps are up to you and the Cold Campus Belle—who knows, once you've walked them all, maybe the next thing is your wedding."
"Exactly! Dang dang dang dang, dang dang dang dang dang~" Little White Dove started humming the accompaniment to The Wedding Symphony, waving his chopsticks around like a conductor's baton.
Jiang Muye couldn't help but laugh. "Quit humming, you idiot, you're completely off-key!"
"What do you mean off-key, how dare you question the skills of a generation's singing god!" Little White Dove was full of himself.
Old He tossed a peanut high into the air and caught it neatly in his mouth, then mocked Little White Dove, "Little White Dove, I gotta say, your being off-key is pretty damn obvious."
"You're laughing at me too? Damn it, then don't eat my peanuts!"
"I will so eat them, don't be so stingy!"
The two of them fought over the peanuts, and Jiang Muye leaned in with a smile. "Hey, save me some peanuts!"
"Not a single one left. You want some? No way!" Little White Dove got all smug.
Jiang Muye snatched the peanuts and ate them with relish.
Still the taste of childhood. Delicious.
Another sip of beer and it was pure bliss, instantly sweeping away the gloom at the bottom of Jiang Muye's heart.
As Jiang Muye drank his beer with gusto, Little White Dove said excitedly, "Brothers of the era, never to be separated! Look how tight the bonds between us brothers are—how about we just hold our weddings on the same day in the future? Wouldn't that be lively, doing it all together."
"Muzi here hasn't even gotten off the ground yet. He isn't even the Cold Campus Belle's boyfriend yet," Kai pointed out the key issue.
Little White Dove made a pinching gesture with his hand. "Just put in more effort, and the Cold Campus Belle will be yours for the taking!"
Jiang Muye shot Little White Dove a glance. "I do have some good feelings for her now, but there's still a gap before it's true love. I need to cultivate my feelings with her a bit more, just wait for the water to flow into a channel, so it doesn't turn out I was just after her looks and only wanted to be a hooligan in it for the body, instead of an honest man in a real relationship."
But if things kept going the way they were now, barring any mishaps, he really should be able to genuinely like Leng Ruoli. After all, right now only Leng Ruoli could catch his attention, could make him lose focus.
What he had to do was adjust his own state and face Leng Ruoli as a brand-new him, so as not to disappoint her.
"I don't care, I just think you two have real potential. When the time comes, we'll all get married together. I'm putting my hand on it right here—get out of the singles' club, got it!" Little White Dove pointed at Jiang Muye.
"Got it, got it! I want out of the singles' club!" Jiang Muye responded readily.
"That's a real man for you! Then, bottoms up!" Little White Dove clinked cups with Jiang Muye.
Jiang Muye didn't hold back and drank a glass.
Just as Jiang Muye and his brothers were chatting and laughing, his phone rang.
Jiang Muye saw it was a virtual number.
He was a bit puzzled.
Who's this?
He picked it up, and a lively voice rang out.
"Brother!"
This one was so loud it nearly sent Jiang Muye to the afterlife.
"Jiang… Jiang Xueli?"
"Heh heh, as expected of my brother, you remember my voice crystal clear."
"Cut the crap." Jiang Muye curled his lip and asked, "How did you get my number?"
"The Student Council, duh. Your number's on file."
"Damn Student Council, selling out my phone number." Jiang Muye spat.
"Don't blame them, I peeked at it myself." Jiang Xueli giggled.
"Alright, what do you want with me."
Jiang Xueli said with a grin, "You coming to the comic con on Saturday? I saved you six tickets."
"The comic con's already here?" Jiang Muye was surprised.
When was the last time he went to a comic con? Seemed like only half a year ago.
"Yeah, this one's especially lively, and the tickets are free—you'd be a fool not to come~" Jiang Xueli started whining coyly.
"Fine, it's not like I said I wouldn't go." Jiang Muye's words delighted Jiang Xueli, her little face bursting with excitement. "That's great then, I'll give you the tickets tomorrow, be there or be square."
Jiang Xueli's goal was clear now: win over her own brother.
Heh heh, after all, she still hadn't given up her wish to get Jiang Muye to film with her.
She super wanted her brother to cosplay as Lord Aotian—just picturing the scene got her excited, it was practically a 2D dream come true.
Jiang Xueli definitely wouldn't let this rare opportunity slip by. No matter what she did, she had to sway her Big Brother—and here, the moment she had tickets, her first thought was to come curry favor with him.
"Sure." After hanging up on Jiang Xueli, Jiang Muye saved her number.
"Campus Belle Jiang calling you?" Kai looked at Jiang Muye.
"Yeah, she wants to give us tickets to the comic con on Saturday." Jiang Muye answered honestly.
"That's great, then I don't have to buy a ticket, awesome!" Kai was thrilled.
Jiang Muye counted heads. There were only four of them here, and now there were six tickets, so they were two short.
He couldn't just waste the tickets.
This was a perfect opportunity.
With that thought, a hint of a smile spread across Jiang Muye's lips.
He immediately pulled out his phone and sent a message.
That night, in the girls' dormitory.
Leng Ruoli was wrapped in a large bath towel, her peaks sharp and her figure curvy and exquisite. Her wet hair dripped water downward, making her cheeks look tender and pink, smooth as if water could be pinched out of them.
She wiped her hair with a towel and plopped down onto the sofa, bending her fair, slender long legs.
Her graceful figure leaned against the sofa, the arches of her feet raised to reveal fair, lovely, gleaming toes—a thoroughly alluring, vivid picture.
Just as she had her hair about half dry, her phone got a WeChat notification.
When Leng Ruoli caught sight of Jiang Muye's message flashing on the screen, she snatched up her phone in a flash.
1%: There's a comic con on Saturday. Besides me, there are two extra tickets. You coming?
Leng Ruoli was instantly interested.
Naturally, she was willing to spend more time with Jiang Muye—after all, they were currently developing toward becoming a future couple.
So to cultivate their feelings, of course she had to go out.
Leng Ruoli replied sweetly: Sure, can we bring Sister Mi Lu along too?
1%: You two together?
Leng Ruoli: Yeah, how could I not invite her along when there's something good? She's really into anime too.
When Jiang Muye saw Leng Ruoli's message, he couldn't help but laugh.
What a little simpleton.
That's your love rival, and you're not guarding against her at all, even helping create opportunities?
But it was exactly her straightforwardness that put Jiang Muye in an even better mood.
So cute.
A girl without any scheming is good—easy to keep.
