Chapter 97: Nurse Fang Yu, Don't Give Me a Shot
Boss Cutie
Kai said to Jiang Muye, "Don't blame me. I was the one who told her to come. I figured if you weren't feeling well, things would be better with her here."
Only then did Jiang Muye understand the reason Leng Ruoli had shown up here.
Leng Ruoli's eyes instantly turned red. "I was so worried about you. Are you feeling any better?"
Her voice carried the sound of tears.
She fought hard to hold back her tears, looking utterly pitiful, and Jiang Muye couldn't help but feel tender toward her.
"I'm fine. Look at me, I'm the same as always. It was just gastroenteritis, I pulled through." The corners of Jiang Muye's mouth stretched into a grin.
"I'm sorry, it's all my fault…" Leng Ruoli was miserable. "You only got gastroenteritis because you ate the Bento I made."
"Blame my stomach for being weak. It wasn't your Bento, actually I ate other things too and didn't pay attention." Jiang Muye definitely didn't want Leng Ruoli blaming herself.
So he casually made up an excuse, trying to bluff his way past it.
But Leng Ruoli's brows still held guilt.
Her eyelashes trembled, and she felt such heartache for Jiang Muye. She said to him, "Don't stand here anymore, sit down right away."
"I'm really fine. I still have to go for a second full-scale checkup to confirm there's nothing wrong. I won't even need to take medicine." Jiang Muye flashed a grin at Leng Ruoli.
But Leng Ruoli just sniffled, still thinking Jiang Muye was only comforting her.
Although she didn't have gastroenteritis, she had seen Sister Mi Lu suffer from it.
It really was awful.
If she could, Leng Ruoli truly wished she could be the one suffering instead of letting Jiang Muye suffer. And the very thought that Jiang Muye had ended up like this because of her made Leng Ruoli feel even worse.
"So what are you planning to do now?" Leng Ruoli asked softly.
"Get blood drawn for tests." Little White Dove answered honestly.
"Alright, let's go get your blood drawn now." Leng Ruoli stepped forward directly, grabbing Jiang Muye's arm to support him.
Seeing Leng Ruoli take the initiative, Jiang Muye was a bit surprised, then he laughed and said, "I'm really fine, I'm not that fragile, okay."
"No. I insist on supporting you." Leng Ruoli bit her red lips slightly, persisting.
"Good, good, good, you support me then." Jiang Muye didn't argue with Leng Ruoli any further.
Anyway, Leng Ruoli's soft, boneless little hand resting on him gave him an indescribable sense of comfort, and made Jiang Muye feel light and giddy.
The two stood very close together. Her hand wound around his arm, gripping softly and tightly, making Jiang Muye feel a bit of a tickle.
Jiang Muye couldn't help but want to smile again.
He felt as if the air was filled with a sweet scent, even though this damn smell was clearly disinfectant.
Jiang Muye looked down. He was already quite fair, but he noticed Leng Ruoli's hand was dazzlingly white.
Add to that the attitude of the people around them—Little White Dove and the others deliberately keeping their distance and throwing them knowing looks—and Jiang Muye's ears turned a bit red, though he also felt a secret thrill.
He and Leng Ruoli right now really did seem like a couple.
Heh heh, sweet.
Jiang Muye's mood was utterly relaxed. This counts as an unexpected gain.
After Leng Ruoli brought Jiang Muye to the blood-drawing station, she carefully cautioned him, "If you're scared, whatever you do, don't look at the needle. It might hurt a bit, but it'll be over in a moment."
Jiang Muye's gaze swept over Leng Ruoli's flustered, shy little face. The corners of his mouth lifted at once. "I'm not the one who's scared. I think you're the one who's pretty scared."
"I…" Her white teeth lightly bit her red lips, a blush spreading across her little face, and she mumbled, "Not scared."
"Is that so." Jiang Muye teased.
How could he not feel that Leng Ruoli was saying one thing and meaning another?
"Alright, we're starting the injection now." The nurse reminded them from the side.
As an older auntie, seeing such a well-matched pair of a man and a woman naturally pleased her eye.
But as a nurse, a hospital worker, in order to spare the patients behind them from watching them be lovey-dovey and so they could get through the line quickly, she still had to be cruel and cut their conversation short.
Leng Ruoli hastily began rolling up Jiang Muye's sleeve, saying bashfully, "Then, the injection."
She instructed the nurse, "Big Sister, you have to get it done in one go."
"Will do." After the nurse heard such a beauty make her request, she readily agreed. She said to Jiang Muye with a smile, "Young man, you're a lucky one."
Hearing this, Jiang Muye felt somewhat proud.
Leng Ruoli shyly lowered her head, leaning against Jiang Muye like a timid little bird.
Jiang Muye glanced to the side and could clearly see Leng Ruoli's moist, reddened lips repeatedly pursing slightly as she drew deep breaths. It was obvious she was afraid of injections.
Even though she wasn't the one getting the injection, she still had a fear of needles.
"Don't be scared." Leng Ruoli cheered Jiang Muye on.
Her eyes were clear as a fawn's, gazing deeply at Jiang Muye.
But Jiang Muye was smiling happily.
Was she cheering him on, or more like cheering herself on?
Just as Leng Ruoli's breathing grew tight with nervousness, her heart pounding, and she was about to faint at the sight of the needle, a hand covered her eyes.
The hand carried Jiang Muye's uniquely pleasant scent, a faint mint fragrance, very warm. It covered her slightly cool little face and set her heart surging.
Her chest rose and fell more and more violently. It was already not small, and now it grew even more pronounced.
Leng Ruoli's lips went dry and her throat tightened. Her skin all over grew hot.
Her sensitivity—Jiang Muye could naturally feel it too.
This sensation shared only between the two of them made Jiang Muye feel exceptionally excited.
She was worried about him, and wasn't he just as worried about her?
She was so clearly afraid of injections, yet now she had to put on a brave front to take care of him. Jiang Muye couldn't make her overcome her fear, but he could ease it.
Jiang Muye felt only a light prick on his arm, really just like an ant bite, neither painful nor itchy.
In just a few seconds, a tube of blood had been drawn.
"Alright, young man, wait for the report in a bit. Next." The nurse said.
Only then did Jiang Muye lower his hand.
Leng Ruoli's eyes still weren't used to the light before her, and she blinked hard.
But to Jiang Muye, it was like the light, lovely flutter of a butterfly's wings. The moment her eyes opened, she was truly beautiful.
When she smiled, the corners of her eyes lifted, her whole pupils filled with him, her smile spilling over—a soft, charming, pretty look.
Jiang Muye was stunned.
His breathing was rapid and uneven.
Before he could snap back to his senses, he found that Leng Ruoli had already lowered her head and was pressing the cotton swab on his arm with her hand.
Her other hand helped him hold his clothes, and she carefully began to support him, instructing him, "You have to press the cotton swab for a while, otherwise it'll swell up easily and won't stop bleeding."
Jiang Muye softly agreed, "Okay."
The corners of his mouth hadn't flattened once. His eyes followed Leng Ruoli the whole way as he went along with her to the side.
Jiang Muye's sleeve still hadn't been pulled back down when, after a moment, he felt a wave of warmth.
He was surprised to see Leng Ruoli wrapping her jacket around him and hugging him too, to keep the clothes from falling.
"Don't catch a cold." Meeting his startled gaze, Leng Ruoli was like a piece of gentle warm jade, smiling beautifully.
Her tenderness stirred Jiang Muye's calm heart. It was like a stone had been thrown in, sending out a vast expanse of ripples.
"Bro!" A familiar voice rang out.
