Chapter 114: The Buddhist Supremes, Jieyin King Buddha
Dream-Making Expert
Under the Bodhi tree, the monks guarded the Dharma.
Lin Qi sat in his meditation room, brooding over the matter for a full forty-nine days.
That day.
Lin Qi stepped out of the meditation room. First, he pressed his palms together and bowed toward the Bodhi tree in the courtyard. Then he nodded slightly to the Golden-Bodied Bodhisattva and Arhats who were hidden in the void, chanting scriptures to protect his Dharma.
Only then did he stride toward the Scripture Pavilion.
Inside the Scripture Pavilion, the others were still reading Buddhist scriptures, accumulating contribution, hoping to exchange for a great opportunity, a great destiny when they left Kongxiang Temple.
Seeing Lin Qi stride in, everyone was startled.
Then Ye Qianli hurried forward. "Senior Brother, have you emerged from your Dao enlightenment?"
"Just a small gain."
Lin Qi nodded slightly and spoke. "I had you copy and read the Buddhist scriptures. Have you gained any insight?"
The group exchanged glances. Fortunately, Jian Wuming spoke in time. "Hand over the Buddhist scriptures and divine abilities related to Kongxiang Temple that you previously found."
At these words, everyone understood. They hurried forward, each handing Lin Qi more or less some scriptures concerning Kongxiang Temple.
Lin Qi accepted them all without refusal.
Then he said, "Next, carefully read through the legends and tales of the Buddhist Supremes. I will come to collect them next month."
With that, Lin Qi took the scriptures and left. He returned once more to his meditation room and began to read through the various scriptures.
Outside, the Bodhi tree remained as before, and the chanting that had paused for a moment resumed.
Lin Qi was long accustomed to it and remained utterly unconcerned. Amid the Bodhi radiance and the sound of chanting, he read through the various Buddhist scriptures.
A month later.
Lin Qi rose and headed once more to the Scripture Pavilion. This time, he again took away many carefully selected legends and tales concerning the eight great Buddhist Supremes.
Lin Qi pored over them carefully in his meditation room.
Soon, he locked his target onto three of the Buddhist Supremes.
They were the World-Honored One Subhuti, who ruled the Bodhi Macrocosm.
The Three-World King Buddha, who ruled the Maitreya Macrocosm.
And the Jieyin King Buddha, who ruled the Jieyin Macrocosm.
These three Buddhist Supremes.
Each one had achieved Dao Attainment and commanded the heavenly Dao of an entire macrocosm, an unsurpassed sovereign.
Enough to rival the Amitabha that the monks chanted daily.
In truth, the true meaning of Amitabha in the Buddhist scriptures was Infinite Light, Infinite Life.
In ancient times, it referred to the very first Supreme Buddha of Buddhism.
But as Buddhism grew stronger, the phrase Amitabha had become a respectful praise for all Buddhas, no longer the honorific of that first Supreme Buddha.
After all, the Buddhist scriptures said: seeing Amitabha is as seeing the Buddhas of the ten directions.
Of course, Lin Qi did not care about these little Buddhist commonplaces.
