Chapter 78: Foundation Establishment
Dream-Making Expert
Three years later.
The setting sun was like blood, the city dim and yellow.
On the bustling street, a girl in a yellow dress crouched before a vendor selling candied hawthorns, eating one skewer after another. The bamboo sticks at her feet had piled up into a small mountain.
I can’t eat anymore. I need to save room for lamb skewers.
Crunching through a skewer of candied hawthorns, the yellow-dressed girl wiped the sugar from the corner of her mouth, clapped her hands, and walked off.
The vendor, carrying what seemed like an endless supply of candied hawthorns, called out to stop her. “How can you eat without paying?”
“Pay?!”
The yellow-dressed girl turned in surprise, sized up the vendor for a moment, and curled her lips. “You’re new here, aren’t you? Don’t you know I never pay for food?”
“Why should you eat without paying!”
The vendor was furious.
The yellow-dressed girl seemed to realize she was in the wrong and instinctively reached for her purse. But then her eyes shifted, and she opened her mouth to spray a breath of cold air like fire, reducing the bamboo sticks on the ground to ash.
Having destroyed the evidence, the yellow-dressed girl laughed loudly. “When did I ever eat your food? Do you have proof?”
With that, the yellow-dressed girl turned to leave, only to see the crowd surging toward her, as if the entire city had gathered around, shouting at her without pause. “Pay! Pay!”
The yellow-dressed girl’s eyes instantly turned fierce, and she shouted at the sky. “You’re going too far! I’m just eating a little in a dream, and you want me to pay? I won’t!”
No answer.
Only the mountain-shaking roar that echoed through the city. “Eating requires payment!”
The crowd was furious, the roar like a tsunami.
The yellow-dressed girl instinctively stepped back, her eyes ferocious. But she quickly sensed that the gazes of the people closing in were even fiercer, as if flames were burning within them.
The yellow-dressed girl instantly panicked a little and hurriedly tossed out her purse. “Here, take it. Now let me out. I’m not playing anymore.”
The next second.
The vendor, satisfied with the money, and the crowd retreated as the city began to collapse.
A soft groan.
Gushe opened her eyes in a huff, glaring at Lin Qi, who sat cross-legged on the ground, the Dream Bubble Shadow held in his hands.
“Lin Qi, you’re still tormenting me in a dream!”
“I am teaching you the rules of being human.”
Lin Qi’s gaze was indifferent as he flipped his hand and withdrew the Dream Bubble Shadow. “So you don’t become lawless when you go to the mortal world.”
“Do you think you’re my father?”
Gushe was furious. She was about to say more, but Lin Qi pointed a finger, and she stumbled, involuntarily retreating out of the secret room.
Furious, she was about to shout when she heard Lin Qi say lightly, “The time has come. I will reach Foundation Establishment today. Guard the law for me.”
The curse on the tip of Gushe’s tongue was instantly swallowed. Her brows relaxed, and she quickly said, “I’ll guard the law for you right away.”
“Lin Qi, why don’t you simulate Foundation Establishment a few more times in the dream?”
