Chapter 81: Killing Him Is Like Slaughtering a Dog
Dream-Making Expert.
The Wind-Stilling Pearl, the Gang Thunder Nail.
They were two accompanying Dharma Treasures of Ancestor Wuya that possessed illustrious fame.
It was said both had already been refined to the Sixth-Layer Restriction, belonging to the very peak of mid-grade Dharma Treasures.
Dharma Treasures were different from Dharma Artifacts.
The division of Dharma Artifacts into upper, middle and lower grades was purely because of the might of the talisman formations engraved within them.
A low-grade Dharma Artifact typically had three talismans engraved upon it. It seemed to be a Three-Talisman Formation, but in reality it did not count as a true Three-Talisman Formation. All he could say was that the three talismans were connected, able to amplify the power of talisman spells.
What a mid-grade Dharma Artifact was engraved with, however, was a true Three-Talisman Formation, of one breath and one branch, its power greatly increased.
An upper-grade Dharma Artifact was naturally engraved with a Six-Talisman Formation.
As for Dharma Treasures, though they too were graded by the different divine abilities infused into them, with distinctions of high and low.
Most of the time, the true standard for judging the rank of a Dharma Treasure was the number of layers of Restriction refined within it.
Below three layers of Restriction was a low-grade Dharma Treasure. Three to six layers made a mid-grade Dharma Treasure. Above six layers was naturally an upper-grade Dharma Treasure.
The reason for this distinction was very simple.
It was because the method of refining a Dharma Treasure's Restriction was derived from the method of the Nine Revolutions of Divine Ability.
The Nine Revolutions of Divine Ability meant that after a divine ability had completely transformed during the Foundation Establishment stage, it could still be strengthened nine more times in future cultivation.
For example, a peerless divine ability at the Foundation Establishment stage required refining six kinds of heavenly treasures to completely finish its transformation.
But this did not mean that one could not continue collecting more heavenly treasures to refine into the divine ability afterward, continuing its transformation and strengthening.
In fact, not only could one do so, one could transform and strengthen it nine times, until it grew into a Six-Nine Divine Ability.
Only then would that peerless divine ability be considered fully cultivated.
To put it plainly, during the Qi Refinement stage one cultivated the embryonic form of a divine ability. At the Foundation Establishment stage it was completely condensed and transformed into a divine ability. The future was then an endless strengthening and transformation of the divine ability, until it was cultivated to its absolute limit.
Of course, a divine ability was only a technique for protecting the Dao. After the Foundation Establishment stage, it had little to do with one's cultivation realm.
So when one's own divine abilities were insufficient to protect the Dao, many cultivators turned their Dao-protecting method to refining Dharma Treasures.
Even Dharma Treasures were, in themselves, equivalent to an external divine ability.
Thus they could naturally also be strengthened through nine revolutions.
And unlike the transformation and strengthening of a divine ability, which carried the risk of qi deviation and needed to be done slowly, best following one's cultivation realm step by step.
A Dharma Treasure was an external object. So as long as materials were sufficient, it could be refined to the peak all at once, and there was no need to consider the limits of one's own divine abilities.
