Chapter 937: The Stone Monkey's Life Save-Scummer 3
Dream Dao Attainment, Opening Scheme Against Cultivators
The Dream-Making Expert
“Your Majesty.”
“That wild monkey is probably Lin Feng, who came with us.”
“As for that Stone Monkey.”
“He doesn’t seem like an easy one to deal with either.”
Yuyao asked Lin Qi in shock.
He had likewise gained a new understanding of the Stone Monkey’s identity in this Cosmos.
Though he still could not be completely certain that the other party was the “Lin Qi” raised by the Buddhist order themselves.
At the very least, the identity of a transmigrator from Earth was more or less certain.
Otherwise, it would have been impossible for him to follow Lin Feng and build a 055.
But was his nerve really this wild?
Did he truly not avoid people in the slightest?
Are we going to just keep watching, or should we do something?
Lin Qi naturally wanted to keep watching a while longer, to grasp more about the Stone Monkey’s situation.
But after thinking it over, he felt that taking the opportunity to probe Spirit Mountain and the Heavenly Court was also a decent choice.
So he decisively spoke.
“Why are you still standing there?”
“Hurry and go to the Western Paradise, Spirit Mountain, and request the presence of the Tathagata Buddha!”
After Lin Qi sent people to Spirit Mountain to request the Tathagata Buddha, his heart stirred, and he ordered all the Immortal and divine generals to be summoned to the Lingxiao Treasure Hall.
Then he directly ordered Thousand-Mile Eye and Wind-Accompanying Ear to continue displaying the Stone Monkey and Lin Feng’s outrageous operations within the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit.
One day in heaven, one year on earth.
By the time the Immortal and divine generals arrived one after another.
In that scene.
The 055 that the Stone Monkey and Lin Feng were building had already begun to take shape.
It sounded a little absurd.
But at this stage, the Stone Monkey might still only be a Handsome Monkey King whose divine abilities were not yet complete, yet Lin Feng was, by any measure, a powerful cultivator.
Hand-building a blast furnace, bare-handedly constructing a ship, was nothing more than an ordinary task.
If he did not have to accommodate the Stone Monkey’s building experience.
With Lin Feng’s abilities, even building a 055 overnight would have been a trivial matter.
In any case, Lin Qi had no doubt that Lin Feng, who possessed the mighty power to create and destroy stars bare-handedly, could fail to build even a single 055.
“My beloved ministers.”
“Does anyone recognize the divine ability that monkey is using?”
Lin Qi spoke, secretly observing the changes in the expressions of the Immortal and divine generals within the Lingxiao Treasure Hall.
Especially the Three Purities and Four Sovereigns, including the Supreme Old Lord.
These several important ministers of the Heavenly Court, the pillars of the Daoist order.
Even within this Cosmos controlled by the Buddhist order.
The Three Purities and Four Sovereigns before him were very likely merely evolved by the Buddhist order and the Heavenly Dao to match the Journey to the West script.
But Lin Qi felt that given the Daoist order’s prestige and strength.
The Buddhist order probably would not dare to truly and openly treat these Three Purities and Four Sovereigns as puppets on strings.
The most likely situation.
Was that the Buddhist order had given the Daoist order a sum for image usage rights.
These Three Purities and Four Sovereigns might even be, just like Lin Qi and the others, orthodox Daoist powerhouses dispatched by the Daoist order into this Buddhist Cosmos to cultivate under borrowed names.
“Your Majesty.”
“The Buddhist order wishes to carry out the Journey to the West, to spread Buddhist Dharma eastward. This matter was communicated to our Heavenly Court long ago.”
“That Stone Monkey is the tribulation-responder in the Buddhist order’s grand Journey to the West plan.”
“For this disturbance, simply notify Spirit Mountain and let them handle it themselves.”
“Our Heavenly Court need only watch quietly and see how things develop.”
An Immortal spoke. It was Taibai Jinxing.
The other Immortal and divine generals in the hall also nodded slightly, expressing that Buddhist order matters were for the Buddhist order to settle.
It was none of the Heavenly Court’s concern.
Under those circumstances.
Only then did Lin Qi realize.
This was indeed not a proper Journey to the West.
All the Immortals and Buddhas across the heavens knew perfectly well, and were cooperating in a performance.
Who knows how many resources and treasures the Buddhist order had put out in bribes, to make such a vast Heavenly Court cooperate so thoroughly.
The key point is that I didn’t receive any bribe from the Buddhist order.
As if sensing Lin Qi’s shock and dissatisfaction.
The Supreme Old Lord spoke.
“Before Your Majesty arrived, had you not looked into the situation of this Great Journey to the West Cosmos beforehand?”
“That shouldn’t be. The position of Jade Emperor isn’t cheap. Your Majesty spent so many resources to secure it, yet didn’t even look at the guide beforehand?”
There’s even a guide?
Lin Qi was somewhat stunned, feeling that the style of this Cosmos was growing more crooked by the moment.
Originally he had thought there was a mastermind behind the scenes, using a reenactment of Journey to the West as a pretext, reversing and restarting within this Cosmos, secretly resetting the save, brewing a conspiracy.
But now that the Supreme Old Lord had spoken, even a guide had come out.
He then realized that the situation in This Realm, in Mortal Peril might be even simpler or more complicated than he had guessed?
“Please enlighten me, Old Lord.”
Lin Qi could no longer concern himself with the Stone Monkey still building a 055 down in the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit, and hastily sought instruction from the Supreme Old Lord with an open mind.
And so, very quickly, another truth about this Great Journey to the West Cosmos was learned by Lin Qi.
As it turned out, rather than calling it a Great Journey to the West Cosmos, it was more like a Westworld of another kind, cooked up by the Buddhist order.
Simply put.
After the Buddhist order took control of this Cosmos, because they could not find suitable disciples to come and undergo Dao-Fusion.
They had a sudden whim, and decided to reenact the Journey to the West story, which had never been fully performed in the Ancient Era of the Heavenly Immortal Macrocosm, within this Cosmos.
To display to the Myriad Realms the profundity and greatness of Buddhist Dharma.
And that wasn’t all. The Buddhist order, with grand strokes, went so far as to openly auction off the many characters that had appeared in Journey to the West to cultivators of the Five Supreme Forces.
For example, the Supreme Old Lord before him had paid a great price, and with the support of his sect elders, won the qualification to play the Supreme Old Lord.
Thereby coming to this Great Journey to the West Cosmos to play the Supreme Old Lord.
Though he was not the true Supreme Old Lord.
He could, with the Supreme Old Lord’s identity and status, comprehend and cultivate within this real and genuine Great Journey to the West Cosmos.
The benefits within went without saying.
“So everyone here is an actor?”
Lin Qi’s forehead veins throbbed wildly. He felt that the wonders of the world truly opened his eyes.
But, no.
Having experienced being refreshed and reset by the power of the Heavenly Dao, Lin Qi sensed the deep terror hidden beneath this surface truth.
The people who came in thought they had spent money to buy an actor’s slot.
Thought they were playing a role-playing game similar to Westworld.
But in truth, they did not know they were trapped in this Great Journey to the West Cosmos, cycling through Reincarnation countless times.
If that was the case.
As Lin Qi pondered, he heard the heavenly soldiers he had sent earlier return to report.
Saying that the Tathagata Buddha was in secluded cultivation and had no time to bother with that Stone Monkey.
So long as the Stone Monkey did not truly ruin the plot, there was no need to pay it any mind.
“Spirit Mountain really can hold steady.”
“That’s right. That Stone Monkey probably paid to get in too. After causing a ruckus for a while, he shouldn’t go too far.”
“It’s that wild monkey beside him.”
“Hmph, is the Buddhist order so poor now? They’re even selling slots for wild monkeys of the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit?”
The Immortal and divine generals discussed for a while, to no avail, and each found an excuse to return and enter secluded cultivation.
After all, if Spirit Mountain was not anxious, what were they anxious about?
Watching the Immortal and divine generals retreat and depart like a Mob of Rabble, a heap of loose sand.
Lin Qi’s gaze flickered.
He somewhat suspected that he was being too conspiratorial.
That the Stone Monkey had no life reset device, and that this entire Great Journey to the West Cosmos had not truly experienced who knows how many resets.
That everything was merely…
Lin Qi’s thoughts cut off abruptly.
Because within the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit, the Stone Monkey, having finally finished building the 055, had sailed out to sea in high spirits.
Then, standing on the steel deck, he howled at the sky, “I am the king of the world!”
As the words fell.
The Stone Monkey, clean and decisive, killed himself with the speed of a thunderclap that brooked no covering of ears.
“This subject received the decree to observe and listen where the golden light shines.”
“It is at the border of the small country of Aolai, east of the sea in the Eastern Victory Divine Continent. There is a Mountain of Flowers and Fruit. On the mountain is an immortal stone. The stone produced an egg, which upon exposure to wind transformed into a Stone Monkey…”
