Chapter 145: Stirring the Imagination
Jiang Muye knew the headlights were particularly glaring, especially with Leng Ruoli asleep. Naturally, he didn't want her woken up.
So in that instant, by pure reflex, he reached his hand over and covered her eyes completely, blocking out the light refracting from the truck.
Jiang Muye looked anxiously at Leng Ruoli.
She was still deep in sleep, like a Sleeping Beauty, her face peaceful, delicate and tender, so lovely it made one's heart ache.
Thankfully, she hadn't woken up.
Letting her sleep a while longer was a good thing.
After lowering his hand, Jiang Muye noticed the stray hairs practically covering her eyes, and gently, ever so gently, he brushed them aside with his fingers.
He was practically holding his breath.
Not daring to make a sound.
His hand was as gentle as gentle could be.
He was terrified that Leng Ruoli would feel uncomfortable and wake up.
It was also the first time Jiang Muye had done something so meticulous and utterly tender. He was a bit clumsy, a bit awkward, tiptoeing as he tucked her stray hairs behind her round, delicate ears.
He gazed at her sweet, fragrant sleeping face.
As he watched, the corners of his mouth curved upward, his mood as pleasant as if he'd eaten honey.
Just as Jiang Muye was about to start driving, he suddenly felt as if someone was staring intently at the back of his head.
That eerie discomfort made Jiang Muye quickly look back.
There was no one there.
Jiang Muye pinched his temples.
What the hell, am I hallucinating?
Why do I keep getting these weird feelings one after another?
Is it because I've been staying up late?
After confirming it was just his imagination and there was no suspicious person, Jiang Muye subconsciously started the car.
The hospital was out of the question now, so Jiang Muye took Leng Ruoli back to his own villa.
After arriving at the villa, Jiang Muye certainly didn't have the heart to wake Leng Ruoli.
She was sleeping so sweetly. What if she threw a fit if he woke her?
What could Jiang Muye do? Just spoil her, that's all.
She was his girlfriend, after all.
Without another word, Jiang Muye got out of the car, opened the passenger door, and carried Leng Ruoli princess-style up to the bedroom.
He laid her on the soft, large bed. Jiang Muye was about to straighten up and leave, but seeing Leng Ruoli's adorably sleepy face, he couldn't help but steal a kiss.
He affectionately rubbed Leng Ruoli's cheeks.
"Good girl."
Jiang Muye thought about taking a shower.
Suddenly he remembered that Leng Ruoli hadn't showered yet.
His gaze fell on Leng Ruoli. Lying on her side like that, her charms were naturally on full display—her collar slightly open, giving Jiang Muye a full view.
Her skin was smooth as congealed cream, fair, full, eye-catching.
Jiang Muye's breathing grew heavy.
He forcibly tore his eyes away.
Forget it. She didn't have any clothes here anyway. He couldn't take advantage of her in this state. Besides, she was still a patient.
At most, he'd endure until her wounds healed. Fatten her up for the slaughter.
Jiang Muye's ears burned as he hurriedly grabbed a blanket to cover that stretch of spring scenery.
Then he rushed off to shower.
He took a cold shower.
The rushing cold water chilled Jiang Muye to the bone.
That raging fire was hard to extinguish.
The long night was truly not something a man could endure.
When he had the chance, he'd collect it back with interest.
…
The faint morning light had already slipped through the fluttering floor-length curtains, gently tracing the graceful figure of the girl on the bed.
Her face was like a peeled egg, pretty and lovely.
Her figure was slender and graceful, delicate and well-proportioned, her long fair legs wrapped around the blanket, her curves extremely alluring.
It was just that the annoying sunlight woke the girl. She blinked her thick, feathery black lashes uncomfortably, and a pair of heart-racing eyes opened.
She was still a bit groggy from sleep, looking around at this unfamiliar place.
Where is this?
Didn't I go to a midnight movie with my boyfriend last night? How did I end up here?
The bewildered Leng Ruoli suddenly realized something and grew frightened. She hurriedly scrambled out of bed.
Where's Jiang Muye? Where did he go!
In the kitchen, a tall figure was using the Frying Pan to fry sausages.
The sausages sizzled and spat oil in the hot Frying Pan. He flipped the sliced sausages—they had already turned golden and crispy.
An enticing aroma spread in all directions, drifting to the tip of the nose.
Jiang Muye sniffed. It actually smelled pretty legit.
When was the last time I cooked?
Cooking for Xia Xiran?
Jiang Muye had thought he'd never step into a kitchen again. He never imagined he'd actually want to.
Compared to the tension and pressure of the past, Jiang Muye now felt relaxed and at ease, with a trace of sweetness in his heart.
"Thump thump thump—"
A series of hurried footsteps sounded.
Before Jiang Muye could even turn around, a pair of arms wrapped around him from behind, clamping around his waist.
Jiang Muye was slightly surprised. He could feel her face pressing against his back, her dependence on him utterly deep.
The corners of Jiang Muye's mouth lifted. Subconsciously, he gently rubbed the hands around his waist with his fingers and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Then Jiang Muye heard a cat-like, aggrieved sob from behind him.
"I thought you'd left me and run away. I… I looked for you for so long and couldn't find you."
Such a coquettish, milky voice made Jiang Muye's blood boil.
Snapping back to his senses, he looked at Leng Ruoli's pitiful appearance—the red rims around her eyes, so tender and heartbreaking—and couldn't help but grab her hand and kiss it tenderly. "Silly girl, how could I possibly leave you and run away? Aren't I right here?"
"I was just worried that a certain little fool might wake up hungry, so I came to make breakfast."
Last night, Jiang Muye had slept in the same bed as Leng Ruoli.
But how could he possibly sleep? Even with his eyes closed, Jiang Muye could feel her presence.
Her fragrance surrounded the tip of his nose.
Not to mention her soft, delicate body so close to him.
Jiang Muye was no Liu Xiahui—he couldn't really turn a blind eye to the person he liked. So, after finally enduring until dawn, he naturally had to flee the scene.
Lest he really devour her whole. No matter how thirsty he was, he couldn't bully a patient.
Leng Ruoli couldn't help but laugh. "So what did you make?"
"I made you a chicken cutlet sandwich. First time making it, I don't know if it suits your taste." Jiang Muye was actually a bit embarrassed.
He hadn't been learning to cook for long. Apart from a few simple dishes, he was a complete novice.
Leng Ruoli's little face was flushed pink. "I love sandwiches! As long as you made it, I'll like it!"
Hearing her words, the stone in Jiang Muye's heart dropped.
"That's good. Now hurry out to the dining table and wait. I'll bring it to you." Jiang Muye looked at Leng Ruoli tenderly, urging her to go wait outside.
Leng Ruoli answered, "Okay."
Jiang Muye quickly sped up. He couldn't let Leng Ruoli wait too long.
To keep the servants from being third wheels and disturbing their private time, Jiang Muye had given them the day off.
After finishing breakfast, Jiang Muye carried it out.
When Leng Ruoli saw the breakfast, her eyes lit up brightly. "So much better than me."
Jiang Muye nearly burst out laughing.
Damn right. Sure, he was a novice, but compared to Leng Ruoli's Dark Cuisine, he was practically a master chef.
Thinking back to the last time he'd eaten Leng Ruoli's cooking and gotten gastroenteritis, he began to feel lucky he hadn't let Leng Ruoli cook this time.
"From now on, let me handle the cooking," Jiang Muye said with a smile.
"Okay." Leng Ruoli was overjoyed. Looking at the breakfast before her, she couldn't resist picking up the sandwich and digging in.
Watching Leng Ruoli eat so happily, Jiang Muye's own appetite opened up.
Being able to share the same eating habits with someone was already a very happy thing. Not to mention that the other person also liked the food he made—that was double the happiness.
They were only halfway through the meal when Jiang Muye's phone rang.
He immediately let out a light laugh and said, "Here comes trouble."
